About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Consume less, enjoy more. Furthermore I am developing my knowledge of foodinformation and foodtechnology to write about it.

ABOUT ME

I am rather small and I compensate this by being a bit noisy, so my friends say. Personally I prefer the term lively. It's just that I get very enthousiastic. I am very curious about personal stories, and I trie to teach and learn where ever I go. I take a lot of interest in the history of the countries I visit, because I think it is a way to understand culture.

PHILOSOPHY

I guess i would call myself a humanistic hedonist.
I try to enjoy life, and more and more I am trying to consume less. After all, what makes life good is the sharing, not the possession of stuff. Therefore I like to share my house with travelers and hope to get good company in return.

My most important motto is: To stand still is to go backwards.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd love to hear your stories! My parents, now near eighty, have traveled the world en taught me to keep exploring. It makes life interesting.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Together with my ex-boyfriend I've hosted several people before I joined myself. We also met some surfers in Bristol and Alanya. Summer 2012 we surfed together in Slovenia. On my own I met a 33 year old single mother in Alicante, who taught her daughter the beauty of sharing, traveled in Spain and have hosted several people by now.
I noticed that when you arrive in the evening, people usually cook for you (not obliged though). If you visit me I definetely will feed you :-O

Interests

I am interested in history, culture, music, film, hiking, reading, photography, acting and a lot more. But most of all, I like good food, all kinds, to prepare and to eat, haute cuisine and fast, any kind, as long as it is enjoyable!

Music, Movies, and Books

I just love Pride and Prejudice, have read and reread. I started a bookclub to learn more different novels. I watch movies all the time, old and new ones. Mostly the arty kind but i don't mind a bit of hollywood stuff now and then (cultural fastfood). Music, i just love any kind that fits my mood.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2011 I swam with manatees in Crystal bay, Florida. That was really amazing.
But from my childhood I remember the first time I went into a gletsjer cave at the Rhone-gletsjer. I can still dream of the blue glow.

Teach, Learn, Share

Once I traveled on my own to a national park in Thailand. I hitchhiked the 20 km. into the park wich was easy, because it was a sunday-afternoon. I hired a tent and around 6 pm I saw all the cars leaving, and I realised: 'Nobody is able to take me out of here tomorrow!'
But with just a stroll on the campingsite I met the most pleasing young Thai man, who took me the next day the 200 km I planned to travel by train. And he even bought me lunch.
For me this is an example how everything will turn out just fine as long as you don't despair. Just not the way you planned.
Best thing about travels are alway the personal meetings, not the tourist atractions. So I alway try sit in a bar (or teahouse)and meet with locals.
