There are no coincidences in life. We learn from every thing that we do, every person we meet.
So, my current mission is to meet people and share stories about our lives, our experiences, our dreams. To see what new things I can learn from you.
"A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal."
I am an Australian currently travelling in France. Some of my Couchsurfing friends give me their homes to stay in sometimes for a few nights, sometimes for a few weeks.
I am a health professional: - specialist nurse, a diabetes educator. I am also a midwife (sage femme).
One of my passions is photography. I love to take photos and to teach photography.
I am NOT a musician, but I love to listen to live music, and many of my friends are musicians.
I love to be physically active. I love riding my bicycle. I finished an 1800km ride from central France to Santiago in September 2014.
I love to walk in your town / city and talk with you about life.
I am inquisitive about many things: I am one to peer over walls, or open a door and enter see what's behind.
I am a true Piscean: Imaginative and sensitive; Compassionate and kind; Selfless and unworldly; Intuitive and sympathetic. (Chinese horoscope - I am a Boar). My Myers Briggs personality type is ENFP.
I always feel that I can help somebody in some small way.
I am an extrovert: I get energised by spending time with other people.
You are never lost, just somewhere different.
Carpe diem. I am far from perfect but I strive to be the best person I can be, and help others as much as possible.
"Surround yourself with people who make you happy. People who make you laugh, who help you when you are in need. People who would never take advantage of you."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I love the vision of Couchsurfing - "We envision a world where everyone can explore and create meaningful connections with the people and places we encounter. Building meaningful connections across cultures enables us to respond to diversity with curiosity, appreciation and respect. The appreciation of diversity spreads tolerance and creates a global community."
When I can I organise events in my hometown to share the wonders of my own area e.g hiking, photography expeditions, dinners.
I enjoy hosting and to be hosted: meeting like minded, interesting people to share time with.
I surf to share my experiences and learn about people like you - others who enjoy to share who they are.
I surf to meet local people and share local experiences.
I attend meetings of surfers when possible.
The Couchsurfing Community has been a real experience of sharing.
When in France I have had nothing but an amazing connection with the French people. I have also had great experiences with those people surfing with me in my home in Australia.
In France: Baking bread with a local baker; dancing some folk dances; making a musical recording with a local musician; walking in the alps with locals; teaching photography; walking around Paris learning French language (poorly) and culture; BBQ with friends of my hosts. And much much much much more.
Give as much as you get and make it a sharing experience, not just a bed for the night.
Cycling: In the summer of 2014 I rode 1800km 2014 from Moulins France to Santiago Spain on the Chemin St Jaques Compstelle.
Teaching: what I know, we all have something to teach, we all have something to learn.
Photography: my number 1 passion. I like to teach if you are wanting to learn.
Art, music, people, bushwalking (hiking), playing board games ie Scrabble, backgammon, etc
Music, Movies, and Books
I love most styles of music. I could not live without music. I know many musicians and consider myself 'Professional Audience" rather than musician.
Movies that enrich my knowledge about human beings. Movies that stir my emotions, make me cry and make me laugh. Recently - My Old Lady; Quills; The 100 Foot Journey;
Almost French; Celestine Prophecy; Shantaram; Maggie and Me; The Long Road to the Deep North;
TV: try and avoid it most of the time, there are better things to do. However, Dexter caught my interest recently. I think it was about my belief in fairness.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Just one... this is really hard.
I have had a very fortunate life with travel and life in general. The most recent amazing thing.....
During the months of July/August/September 2014 I cycled 1800km from central France to Santiago Compostela, Spain. Such an enlightening experience.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you a little about art and a lot about photography: taking photos and Photoshop; learning how to see.
I can teach you English and maybe something else... who knows; we all know different things.
We all have something to teach; we all have something to learn.
Share: My belief is to share what I know; share whatI have. This is why I so love CouchSuring.
"This is the beginnings of the future CouchSurfing University, a school where everyone's a student and everyone's a teacher. Surfing isn't just about a place to sleep. It's about exchange. From esoteric knowledge to practical skills, you have special knowledge that others will benefit from knowing. Include one, or even a couple of items here that you might be able to share - and maybe something you want to learn! We hope that this will contribute to strengthening the quality of this wonderful community. Teach. Learn. Share. Let's do this."
What I Can Share with Hosts
Stories about my adventures (like most of us here).
I can teach photography; teach english; travel tips; wisdom of age.
