ABOUT ME

I am Iris, learning how to be me more and more each day. I am young woman, living on her own and exploring life. I want to be many things, a better human being and global citizen, a teacher, a student, a mother, a world traveler,...Career wise I would love to do something in Theater, which is why I am living in Ashland, OR, home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Southern Oregon University. I want to study performance, but wouldn't mind doing something behind the scenes as well.
I love the power of women and children and with that love comes a need. I want to study to be a midwife and travel to third world countries and work with women all over. Investing in the power of childbirth is so amazing to me that I feel the need to follow it wherever I am needed. I want to be multi-lingual, so travel and human experience is the first step...
I love to sing and act and dance. I am crazy (in a good and fun way) and COMPLETELY in touch with that sense of myself. I am a Gemini, I love my wild creativity and my solitary depth. I love to love and be loved in return, and wish more people would allow themselves that honor. I am a world traveler, and am always open to new things and people. Anything else, just ask.

I have traveled and "couch-surfed" outside this network and loved it. You meet new people and see new places, but really it comes down to the similarity of mankind. We all are people, and we have couches...

Musik, Filme und Bücher

Most anything involving music. A few exceptions, like most country and "hardcore" hyphy stuff and such. If you listen to ICP, get out.

I am a voracious reader, as my father would say. I usually have 2 or 3 books going at once. Anything really, except "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" SPECIFICALLY! I tend to read a lot of historical fiction, especially those about strong female characters. Any good mystery or thriller usually hooks me too. I love a good story with equal parts depth, wit, unexpected twists and a kiss for good measure. I like most books by principal really...and I enjoy people who like to read as well.
Music never stops. I always have music on in the car. My iPod has a lot of random things on it. One minute, I will be listening to The Rescues, and Billy Talent comes ripping on. I can chill to Death Cab for Cutie and belt out musical soundtracks. A few rap songs as well, just cuz I can dance like a funky white girl. I grew up on Neil Young and Crosby Stills and Nash, and some soul as well, so I've got some oldies but goodies too...

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I have hiked in the Austrian Alps and eaten fresh goat cheese and bread at the summit. I witnessed a litter of puppies being born. I have caught my own frog and jumped it in a Jumping Frog Jubilee. I have made someone smile just by saying thank you in their language. I used to live across the street from a serial killer. I tend to win a lot of contests. Most recently I have packed up and moved to a place where I didn't know anybody, and started anew which I think is pretty impressive...
