Overview
About Me
I enjoy travelling, speaking new languages & meeting people from different parts of the world. I'm open to new experiences and different perspectives on life.
I relish the cultural attractions that cities like London offer, but my roots are in the Somerset countryside.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Along with a friend, I stayed with the Iles family in rural Wales. We exchanged life stories over dinner and took up Harry's challenge of interpreting his wood sculptures.
A year later, I had the pleasure of experiencing student life in Freiburg with Alex & Max, who were incredibly hospitable despite their busy schedule. Soon after, I was welcomed by the wonderful family of Sarah, Manfred & baby Sofia to a different part of Freiburg, and I immediately felt like a member of their family. We walked in the Black Forest together & I enjoyed hearing about their cycling adventures in Tajikistan. I then travelled across the border to Strasbourg, where (Alsatian actress) Sabrina, along with her cat & dog, gave me a warm welcome.
On a camping holiday in Slovenia, my friend and I wanted to explore Ljubjana & were welcomed to the city by our host Marija, a wonderful Slovenian lady with stories to tell & a kind heart.
Together with another friend, I stayed with Jordane & Pierre in their beautiful home, surrounded by the French-Luxembourgish countryside. We shared travel stories, perspectives on the environment & had great fun cooking for each other on consecutive nights. On my final night in Luxembourg, I was welcomed into the home of Kenn, Laura & Zorbus the cat, whose company was just what I needed after a tiring day! It was interesting to hear about their experiences living in Luxembourg, & I left wanting to learn more about the country.
The way in which these former strangers welcomed into their homes with such kindness strengthened my faith in humanity.
I am currently unable to host, but I would like to in the future.

Music, Movies, and Books
All sorts. I like experiencing music live, especially music that originates from another part of the world & gives a flavour of life there.
I specialised in medieval literature at university and enjoy reading (mostly contemporary fiction or classics).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was overwhelmed by the Raphael stanze in the Vatican. With breathtaking frescos on all sides, it felt wrong to turn my back on any one of them!
Teach, Learn, Share
Quite a few people are interested to learn about social care/local government, so I could share that - and learn about the path you've taken in your career.
Languages and interesting places I've travelled to
My cooking skills are nothing to write home about, but I would be happy to prepare a dish or cook together.
