ABOUT ME

After 2 amazing years living in Prague, I've returned home to Colorado to put my life experience to work and get to know the US in a whole new way. I've been teaching English to children for the past few years, but now that I'm back, I'm really looking forward to just being a good aunt to my niece and nephews.

There are a lot of things that make me happy, but I've noticed that most of them involve spending time with and enjoying other people. Europe really taught me how to connect with my friends, not just hang around them. There actually are people in this world that don't "flake" or become so focused on their own comfort that they can't be loyal and loving; they actually commit to spending time with you, and I can only hope that I can become one of them. I will forever miss the friends I left in Prague, but I know I can take what I've learned and truly connect to the people I come to know here.

The three things I do to keep my happiness: Hiking, Dancing, and Improv. Join me in any one of these activities, and you're guaranteed to at least come out with a good story.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I decided to just dive right into the couchsurfing world, and it was probably the best part of my European experience. I've been able to host, surf, and meet some great people while showing them around Prague and discovering new and exciting places. I've also had an opportunity to spread the word about how amazing couchsurfing can be, and have convinced a number of my friends to join the community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I began couchsurfing as a host, and after my first experience, I was hooked. I've played both host and surfer, and I feel that I've been able to truly connect and befriend each and every person I've come across. I've had many a magical moment with hosts and surfers, from beautiful hikes in Bavaria, to sunset drives through Paris, to days spent in Prague showing off my favorite places.

Interests

Writing, literature, and dancing. I was also a member of the Prague English speaking improv comedy group "Too Soon?" My favorite thing in the whole world is laughter.

Once I moved to Europe, I became addicted to hiking. I would rather have walked to a nearby village than take the train if the trails were good. I'll miss the European countryside for that more than anything, but I hope to discover the beauty that Colorado has to offer.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read somewhere once that it's a shame that our modern society places more value upon what a person likes as opposed to what they do. It's become a goal of mine to try and "do" more with my life, and try to define myself in that way.

That being said, I still have many loves within this category, but I'm sure anything worth knowing would come naturally in conversation.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I had the chance to visit my childhood home in Germany after 25 years. It was interesting to see what had changed, but amazing to find what hadn't (namely, the childhood playground I'd spent hours in practically every day). It's a trip I'll never forget, and possibly the greatest gift I've ever given myself.

I'm really just a dilettante, but you never know what kind of weird and trivial knowledge might be stored in the back of my brain.
