About Me

ABOUT ME

I graduated from Goshen College in 2007 with a degree in Nursing. Originally, I wanted to move to Australia to practice nursing. Mind you, I had never been there, and didn't know a soul on the continent. Long story short, I moved to Medford, Oregon instead, and the closest person I knew was about 1200 miles away.
Last year I traveled to Peru, and stayed at hostels (for the first time). I met some incredible people there! :) A few of them had traveled with couchsurfers. Furthermore, a few of my friends are well acquainted with this site, and I decided to sign up and host.
I have always taken great joy and pride in hosting my friends as they travel through Southern Oregon, and I gladly welcome the opportunity to meet travelers. It is always a pleasure to sit and enjoy some time getting to know a new face, hear about where life has taken them, and just enjoy good conversation.

PS. One of the nicknames I was given was "Cheesecake". This has to do with my love of baking.

PHILOSOPHY

Work hard. Play hard. Live passionately, purposefully, and respectfully.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My experience has primarily been as a host for surfers. I have several friends with whom I keep in touch with whom are also primarily hosts. It's been great to catch glimpses of people, and rub shoulders with strangers. It's always left me with a smile on my face, and glad to be a part of a global community of travelers such as this.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have traveled to 18 countries on 4 continents, and lived for at least 3 months in: Holland, Dominican Republic, and Trinidad. I've helped birth 5 babies, performed legal marriage ceremonies, and driven a race-car in a novice competition. Oh, and there are many other stories of randomness, fun, and adventure... but you will just have to stop on by to hear the rest of them.
