About Me

I've lived in the UK for a few years, in Edinburgh since 2016. I'm a freelance journalist so work from home/cafes but also a part time teacher at two Universities in Iceland so tend to go back and forth a bit.

I used to be a news reporter, and now teach Journalism and Creative Writing, so always interested in current affairs, literature, theatre, film and TV. I enjoy road trips and picnics, easy-to-intermediate hikes in the countryside but I also love exploring big cities and can walk for miles and miles on concrete pavements.

Oh and I love stand-up comedy and fiddle with it myself, hence I love living in Edinburgh!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm a journalist because I'm interested in people so when I travel, I want to meet locals and see places from their point of view, hear their stories and make new friends, enjoy good food and have a laugh. People need people!

I divide my time between Iceland and the UK and tend not to make long term plans so my travels can be quite spontaneous and therefore traditional accommodation can be hard to book or ridiculously expensive.

Music, Movies, and Books

Bah...I hate the "What's your favourite..." questions!

All time favourite classic book is Wuthering Heights, the one book that's had the most impact on me is The Unbearable Lightness of Being but these days I'm mostly interested in my own book writing. One of the films I can watch over and over again is The Sting, I'm torn over liking Woody Allen's films and have seen all of John Cusack's films.

I'm embarrassed about my jogging playlist which accidentally consists mostly of '80s music, I've been starstruck upon meeting Brett Anderson, will love Neil Finn "till the day I die" and get emotional at listening to Chopin. Doesn't cover it at all, I know, but you get the idea.
