ABOUT ME

I am a third grade teacher from Colorado on a mission to see the world! I spent a year studying abroad at Uppsala University in Sweden and was able to do quite a bit of traveling then. I went to Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN where I majored in Scandinavian Studies. After graduating with my bachelors degree I decided I wanted to become a teacher and went to the University of Colorado Springs in order to obtain a teaching degree. Before I became a teacher I worked in a doggie daycare, I loved being able to play with all the cute animals, but it was a noisy and stinky job. I also walked away from that job within a couple scars, but it was such a fun job, I'm glad I was able to work there for a while at least. Unfortunately I am not in a position to host surfers, however I would love to meet up for coffee or give tours! I always enjoy meeting new people and sharing experiences with others!

I first joined this site about 5 years ago when I was traveling around northern Norway and Sweden with two other friends. Those two friends introduced me to this site, and they were a lot more established on here. Since my study abroad program ended in 2012 and I moved back to the states I haven't traveled quite as much. When I did travel I traveled to places that I had already been to and with friends who lived there so I didn't need to use this site. I know I don't have many references on here, but if I have requested to stay with you and you would like more references I would be happy to share the work references that I have. I know that's not necessarily the same thing, but until I travel more and can get more couch surfing references then maybe it will help.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couch surfing because I want a more authentic experience when I travel. I want to connect with different countries, cultures, and people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love classical, rock, and metal music. I have played viola for 18 years, about 10 of those years were spent in an orchestra. I was able to go on a two week orchestra tour of China when I was in high school and that was absolutely amazing!

I love reading historical fiction and non-fiction, I also love sci-fi and fantasy. Neil Gaiman is one of my favorite authors.

I enjoy ridiculously terrible movies as well as the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies, Harry Potter, Marvel movies, Amazing Grace, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was in high school I played viola in the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony. During my senior year we went on a two week tour of China and it was such an amazing experience. Getting to share music and see another country was phenomenal and it is one of my favorite experiences that I've had so far.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share good stories and laughter with hosts. I enjoy connecting with people that I normally wouldn't have a chance to meet.
