ABOUT ME

Working in Beijing. Also researching innovations in textiles - fashion, technology, fabrics, chemistry, inventions, interactive media, design, manufacturing, all of the above. I love having thought provoking conversations about this!

Why this? Well, it all started with a book in a bookstore in London in 2008. A bookstore I first visited eleven years ago on my first trip there. When you could still feed the pigeons in Trafalgar Square and have them climb all over you.

Otherwise, I've lived in Seattle, Boston, Stockholm and have spent a lot of time around the Bay Area.

My touristing goal in Beijing is a work in progress - maybe seeing all the architecturally cool buildings? Or skiing in China...

I love being in a quiet place outdoors and looking at a beautiful view by myself. And my grandmother's attic - hunting cool clothes, leafing through newspapers from the 1940s, evaluating my 5-year-old mother's treasure collection.

I am bad at packing light when traveling abroad. This can pose a problem.

I want to learn: play the guitar, design a website, do a handstand properly. I'd like to be better at photography, yoga.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In 2008, a friend told me her amazing couch surfing experience, with homemade pancakes, in Marseilles.

2010: First Friday night in Beijing. My college friend brought me to a couch surfing divorce Party, where I met some of the couch surfers of that Asian city. My lovely boots (favorite pair in life) were worthy of dancing the divorcee's first dance as a single man.

Seoul, Korea: Had coffee & dinner with some awesome community members. Remembered how cool it can be to step into another person's world and visit their life.
