Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
... intensely searching for one!
ABOUT ME
I'm a student of human geography at Helsinki uni, currently on a sabbatical leave to explore geographies on the field.
My personality as described by internet quizzes:
Secret superhero power - control over the elements
Future occupation - waterslide tester
Type of a sloth - the philosophical sloth
The kind of guys I attract - pirates
Type of roadtripper - The Midnight Trooper (“Your obligations include: investing in energy drinks, taking over the wheel during any late-night crises, and driving under the light of the moon”)
The kind of pizza I should be eating: Meatlover’s Pizza (but I’m a vegetarian!)
PHILOSOPHY
Well, you know: compassion is the guiding principle to relating with other beings, we ought to strive to live in harmony with the planet and such. Shouldn't this be obvious?
Of course with compassion comes the understanding that we are all faulty in our own ways... makes us so much more interesting!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
There's never enough support for communities that bring people together with no commercial motives!
Whenever I get a flat large enough to fit a couch, it'll warmly welcome visitors from around the globe. At the moment I'm hoping to be the one to surf a couch (yours, maybe?)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Having hosted some surfers in our student flat, I've never had but positive experiences.
Interests
Long-distance hiking, walking in large cities, getting lost, trains&railways, nomadism, wwoofing, all sorts of volunteering, apples (really), vegetarian cuisines, fellow animals and plants, little more meditation wouldn't hurt

Music, Movies, and Books
Electronic / dance, raves but also jazz clubs - there are very few in Finland
I'm trying to invest in Russian literature right now (Bulgakov, Nabokov) but mostly end up surfing on facebook on my spare time. Damned internet!
I would love to get suggestions on what to read & listen on long train journeys!
Film & TV: some Lynch, Kubrick and Bergman, little von Trier, horror (Evil dead, japanese stuff), tiny bit of sci-fi (Blade runner) and oldies (Hitchcock) - please suggest some comedies! Twin peaks, Mad men, the Wire, Miyazaki films, some mainstream anime (Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Steins;Gate, Shingeki no Kyojin, Shinsekai yori, Psycho-pass etc.)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
To some people, maybe staying up all night with the summer sun, or walking on a frozen river, could be seen as exotic...
But the most amazing experience for me has been learning to trust the help and friendliness of complete strangers. These are the reasons why I think everyone should travel alone every once in a while - and use couch surf, of course!
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd be happy to teach you some basic Finnish. Should be handy when you need a secret language. Can you teach me kung fu in return?
Countries I’ve Visited
