I'm a geographer and love exploring new places. I live in Menomonie Wisconsin where I teach at UW Stout. I also do research about people's relationship with the land and how we can manage our natural resources in fair and sustainable ways.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A couple of friends have had lots of good experiences with couchsurfing so I thought I would give it a try. I like to get to know new places and local people are the best way to get to know an area.

Interests

Crafting - knitting, sewing, gardening, cooking, preserving. Reading science fiction, fantasy. I love nature and the outdoors. My favorite exercise is hiking.

Music, Movies, and Books

Monty Python and british comedy generally, Doctor Who, Serenity - Wait those are TV shows. Oh well! I love Disc World (Terri Prachett), Neil Gaiman, HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Douglas Adams). One of my favorite movies is Princess Bride.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This seems like bragging, but getting my PhD was pretty tough. Also, I worked at a lot of amazing jobs in my 20s, as a naturalist, park ranger, and science educator.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a pretty good cook. I can teach the basics of knitting and crocheting. I'm also pretty good at online stuff like creating websites or interactive maps.
