If you're in KL:
go to Petaling street or Chow Kit Road to find cheap, branded, pirated merchandise. bargain to the lowest price u cld think of.
visit Central market if u dont mind paying a bit more for the Malaysian arts n craft.
Go to Bukit Bintang & Jalan Sultan Ismail for that nightlife u will remember.(find Little Havana, Aloha, Zouk, Ruums among others)
check gigs on
www.klue.com.my/Nightlife.aspx
http://juiceonline.com/

Go to Bangsar or Hartamas if u prefer upmarket lounging either at the cafes or the kopitiam,
for lower scale, going for coffee at 'mamak' joints is more of the scene here in KL. they are open restaurants offering a range of food bt mainly focussing on numerous sorts of 'roti' & also rice with loads of spices. usually they're also local fave watering holes to watch a good match, be it soccer or badminton (they have big screens outdoor so u can watch while enjoying your roti naan or roti canai to go with your teh tarik.
(Try Ampang road & Bangsar)
Dont stay n dick around in kl for too long or you'll miss some serious fun elsewhere in Malaysia.
KL's a metropolitan city.

to find nature and adventure,
GO TO Terengganu (georgeous isles and coastlines where sea turtles come ashore to lay eggs every May thru August), Melaka (Jonker Walk at night pls), Port Dickson (try to find Paklang Kopitiam), Penang (food heaven), Pahang (National Park), Sabah (climb Mt Kinabalu) and Sarawak (Borneo..the jungle does not get any more real, with the aborigines thrown in fr good measure).
