About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meet genuine, interesting people and make friends around the world.

ABOUT ME

After updating my profile, it's safe to say I'm a bit on the ridiculous side. I've always done things different than most people just for the sake of it. I like stuff other people don't like sometimes just because other's don't. I really enjoy beer. I think it is a good thing on multiple levels (taste, ice-breaking-ness, pizza/burgers' best friend, thirst-quenching, the list goes on). I love burgers and pizza if you haven't noticed by now. I can be outgoing and loud but can be introspective and removed. I'm probably not what you expect and it takes some time to know who I really am--however CS gives us this opportunity to take care of that.

PHILOSOPHY

Good beer with decent company is a pretty good way to spend your time.
Decent beer with good company is even better.

If you're not improving, then you're probably getting worse. We're constantly changing for better or for worse.

There's no such thing as good or bad religions. I don't even think there are such things as good or bad people just good and bad actions.

Stop complaining and challenge the problem. Seek solutions.

Stop being negative and angry and start putting out good vibes into the atmosphere.

Always walk with your head held up.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Started surfing back in 2009 in KL, Malaysia. Since then, I've been surfing, hosting (not as much as I'd like, but have you ever been to Fresno?), and going to meetups where I travel/live abroad.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Overall, it's great. What started as a way to get a free couch (people want honest right?), has transformed enormously into a way to meet new people and forge meaningful relationships while traveling, living abroad, or living at home. CS has vastly improved not only my travels but my life as well.

Interests

Traveling obviously (sounds kind of rude doesn't it?). Conversing with strangers and/or friends. Listening to mellow music over good beer. Good/craft beer (IPAs=joy; and yes America does have great beer we just don't export it haha). Anything that has to do with water. Huge film buff. Also very interested in entrepreneurship and automating income. Making meaningful, lasting relationships. Watching sports: NFL, Champions League, badminton, volleyball, archery. Beer pong. Walks on the beach. Petting strangers' cats. Drinking soju right out of the bottle. BBQing when it's raining.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love films and TV series (probably too much). I am always down to watch either whether traveling or at home, bored or busy, on a big screen or my iPad. I dig.

Lost In Translation, Crazy, Stupid, Love; Fight Club, Se7en, The Departed, Memento, Inception, Girl with a Dragon Tattoo, Eternal Sunshine, Goodfellas, Snatch, Love Actually, Oldboy, True Romance, Reservoir Dogs, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, The Other Guys, Tokyo Drift (LOL).

Lykke Li, Bon Iver, Miike Snow, The xx, MOTM, Broken Bells, The Temper Trap, Noah and the Whale, Cults, Two Door Cinema Club, Phoenix, Gotye, stuff like this etc.

Do Travel Writers Go To Hell, Smile When You're Lying, 4-Hour Workweek, On the Road, Harry Potter, Cat's Cradle, Tipping Point, Outliers, Rich Dad Poor Dad. Many more. I don't know why I can't ever think of more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Finding a ¥1 coin in Shanghai
Underground microbrewery in Praha
Sleeping in a beach shack in Ko Phagnan* (spell check; can never spell this place)
Blacking out in Barca and waking up in Lisbon
Red panda jumped out from its "cage" and came and sniffed my shoes
Meeting the legend, BARRY SANDERS
Going to Family Mart in 2 countries
Just living in Berlin

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach
Can introduce you to some books that changed my life (or at least the way I think about things), some practical finance, some Bahasa Indonesia, some American-poor-college-boy cooking, how to open a bottle with a lighter, how to tie your shoes (jk I'm more of a sandals guy), how to enjoy beer (or learn to like it; the key: keep drinking it).

Learn
I'm a language junky. If I can just learn one new word or phrase from you I'd be stoked (preferably "cheers", "thank you", or "I like your butt"). I also would like to learn anything you can teach me about programming/web design/anything techie. If you're a finance-y guy I'd love to learn more about investments. I'd also like to learn how to lower and raise my blood pressure (why raise it? so I can lower it again. anyone?!)

Share
I can share all the stories I can think of travel and otherwise. Any info I know about a place I've been or done research on. Hopefully a few (read: too many) jokes that may or may not be funny (read: probably aren't). If I have two apples you can have one.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Cambodia, Canada, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, Indonesia, United States
