Volunteering at an animal shelter in 40°C heat

Summer in Hong Kong was insane, and there wasn’t any AC in the shelter I was at. I didn’t quit because stray dogs in Hong Kong don’t really get much attention. There aren’t many shelters around, so if we don’t step up to help, they’ll end up being taken by the AFCD (Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department) and euthanized

Languages, they’re a way to connect with people.

I’ve been casually learning Japanese through traveling and talking with friends. I got into Spanish thanks to an amazing trilingual teacher, and that curiosity eventually led me to pick up some French too. Growing up in Hong Kong let me meet people from all over the world, and now that I’m studying in Finland, surrounded by a diverse mix of international students, which makes every day full of interesting conversations and new perspectives
