Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When travelling, the mainstream touristic experience is never really satisfactory if you are looking to have a genuine, inner grasp of the new locality you are travelling to. It is always much nicer to share a local's home and have their perspective of the city, maybe cook and chat together and grap a quick afternoon drink.

I joined CS bc I tend to travel alone quite a lot and when I'm not volunteering, I enjoy staying at a local's home.

I also enjoy how the incoming guest experiences the city. For example, when I host someone in Istanbul, they also teach me new places and perspectives that I wouldn't otherwise think of... I like this two way exchange btw a local and a traveler.
