ABOUT ME

Enthousiastic medicine student from the Netherlands. Loves to travel in a non-conventional way. In the spring of 2013 I hiked from Athens to Northern Italy. The year after I took the Trans-Siberian express to China and then railed my way down to Hong Kong. Then I traveled through South America. At the moment (April 2018 - August 2018) I'm hiking from Rome back home to Holland (can be followed at www.irinaversteeg.com, though I'm not really good at updating the website)

Por que estou no Couchsurfing?

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed with a lot of people, especially in Greece and Italy. Also, I hosted several peoples in my home in the Netherlands. I think the couchsurfing experience is a great way to meet local people and learn about the culture and the hidden places. And I've made some good friends.

Interesses

I like to look at the most ordinary things in a fun perspective. I spend most of my time either studying (medicine) or engaging in sports. I like photographing and filming and being out in nature.

Músicas, Filmes e Livros

First of all I advice the poem Ithaca (by Cavafy) to all of you.
About the rest... I love movies. I used to go to cinema at least once a week. I prefer European movies. Though recently there are mainstream Hollywood movies that actually have a story line.
I enjoy reading books, preferably the ones that teach you something as well as entertaining you.
Music... I really like playing music. All kinds of guitar, piano, saxophone, flute. I only don't really listen music. I always forget to put music on when I am busy...

-Walking the Camino Santiago till the end of the world (Finisterre).
-Hiking/cycling/hitchhiking from Athens to Northern Italy.
-Trans-Siberian railway journey.
-Organizing cool things. Like a film festival, or a hitchhiking competition.
-And now I'm in the middle of my hike from Rome to Holland.
