About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My present goal is to relax, enjoy my friends, the world, try to read as much as possible, try to keep minimally fit. I'm retired from teaching. Wow! Finally!
ABOUT ME
I am in the 3rd phase of my life (!). Recently divorced and retired from teaching, I can now look at the years ahead in a new light. A very good and bright light indeed. I am an avid reader, my second passion is... travelling. I've seen a bit of the world, but I intend to see more. I have two grown-up children, a boy and a girl. I've moved back into the city which I'm enjoying quite a lot (I used to live in a small country town). I love meeting people, that's why I am here.
PHILOSOPHY
Enjoy life and worry about the future in balanced measure. Respect others. Ignore gossip. I don't like people who try too hard to talk me into beliefs and theories.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm willing to welcome people from all over the world, offering them hospitality in my limited resources. I live in a two-bedroom apartment with my son, but there is some extra space. I hope to be able to get to know others the same way.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None until now. I'm eager to learn. I have one experience of Home Exchange that was a success, this year with a Swedish couple. A bit difficult to manage the same period of time, though.
Interests
Books. People. Or Should I say the other way around? Travelling. Cinema. Music. The usual. I like cities, in spite of the pollution and the traffic. I also like the countryside and the sea. I like to watch the sea in winter.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm learning to enjoy opera. I love the old kind of jazz, I also like blues. I like classical music very much (my daughter is a violinist). A bit of rock is sometimes welcome for the sake of old times.
Books are always present. My current favourite writers are Ian McEwan, Margaret Atwood, Siri Hustvedt, Alice Munro. Favourite movies? Maybe The English Patient, the LotR.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
An overland (almost) trip from NY to Rio de Janeiro in the very distant past. It was amazing to see the Mexican pyramids and to climb (the hard way) to Machu Pichu. The Andes are unforgettable.
Teach, Learn, Share
The word "teach" gives me the creeps, as when I retired I was totally burnt out. Of course I like to exchange knowledge with others, share ideas and experiences.
