About Me

I'm just trying to go through life with a smile on my face as often as I can. I'd like to think that I have a very strange sense of humor that might be a little weird at times, but overall is quite endearing. Along with my sense of humor I am apparently very energetic (or at least some people have told me that). A random side note on myself is that I really like putting in commentary on stuff, which explains the excessive use of parentheses in my account.

I think some quotes that I like might also help shed some light on the person that is Isaac Harms.

Current life mantra: "Sucking at something is the first step to becoming sorta good at something" -Jake the Dog

Random quote #1:"The truck stop food, the public restrooms, the lack of showers, it's so awesome!"
-The MC Bat commander

Random quote #2:"The truck stop food! The public restrooms! The complete lack of showers! It's like heaven on wheels!" -Carl

I just like this quote:"I might not be trendy, but I am somewhat of a Hipster" -David S.

Plans if the whole education plan doesn't work out:"I wanna... get some sheep and tend to them" -Will Hunting

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

So I can visit a city, and bypass most of the other tourists. I want to experience the city the way that it is not how an industry has decided people should visit. I also get to meet wonderful locals, who can show me the great local restaurants. I like good company and good food.

Interests

Good company and good food are probably at the top, but I also love anything that's outdoorsy. Especially hiking and backpacking. I've only ever really gone backpacking once in my life, but it is probably one of my best memories. I truly love the ability to walk and explore places (beautiful nature and cities, like anyone else, are my favorites places to walk though).

Music, Movies, and Books

Music
Lord of the Rings soundtrack, The Beatles (and each of their solo careers, including Ringo's. My favorite album of theirs is Abbey Road, but Revolver and Rubber Soul are very close 2nd and 3rd places), Jesus Christ Superstar, Hadestown (I highly recommend these last two albums. The first is a rock opera with music by Andrew Lloyld Webber, and it is largely a dialogue between Jesus and Judas during the final week of Jesus' life. The second album is an album one of my friends introduced me to. It is a folk/big band opera of the Greek tale of Orpheus. I think they are both wonderful), Simon and Garfunkel, Three Dog Night, The Aqua Bats, Disney, and the White Strips

Movies
The Lord of the Rings trilogy (My favorite: Fellowship), (The original) Star Wars trilogy (Favorite: New Hope), Top Secret, Airplane, Wes Anderson films (Favorite: Fantastic Mr. Fox), Mel Brooks films (Favorite: Robin Hood: Men in Tights), Flims with Will Ferrell (Favorite: Anchorman), Mean Girls, Studio Ghibli (excluding Tales from Earthsea, which is essentially not a film by them. Favorite: Princess Mononoke), Marvel movies (Favorite so far: Captain America: Civil War), films with Michael Cera (Favorite by far: Scott Pilgrim vs the World), films with Tom Hanks (Favorite: tie between The Terminal and Apollo 13), The Lego Movie, Most of the films from my childhood (Disney, American Tail, the Brave Little Toaster, and the Thief and the Cobbler), Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, Princess Bride (it might be the only movie that has no genre since it is all genres), Good Will Hunting, and Spy
I also feel like I should include my favorite TV shows here since they are sort of like short movies with a lot of sequels, so they are Lost, My Name is Earl, Arrested Development, Adventure Time, Man in the High Castle, Psych, Monk, The Good Place, Gravity Falls, and Sheep in the Big City

Books
Lord of the Rings (I really like LoTR), anything else by Tolkien, The Discworld series, the Man who Tasted Shapes, the Great Gatsby, and The Heart of Darkness. If you are willing to include comics as books (which I am inclined to do) this list would also include : One Piece, Bleach, Fairy Tail, Black Clover, Deadman Wonderland, Naruto, Boku no Hero Academia, Attack on Titian, and Soul Eater

(I am sorry that this list has gone on for so long. I really like a lot of things, and I feel like I'm not giving them their credit if I don't specifically name them)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I guess one of the most enjoyable things I've every done is Order of the Arrow Trail Crew (OATC). This is a Boy Scout program that involves one week of service at Pilmont Scout Ranch (the world's largest scout camp) making new backpacking trails by hand. After that week of service the group splits off into two smaller groups, and go backpacking for a week. It was a pretty wonderful two weeks. The large group finished 240 feet of trail, and then the small group I was in hiked 72 miles. The trip was amazing because of... The trail food! The PTBs! A complete lack of showers! It was like heaven! (You thought that quote in the beginning wasn't going come back, but it did!)
