I’m Isabel, a Biomedicine student from the UK, I study in Cardiff and spend the rest of the year in Malvern, a small town in the English countryside.

I have a wide range of interests, my studies in biology and medicine fascinate me. I also love wild swimming and when I lived in Cornwall last year I went swimming in the English channel often. I've sang in choirs all my life.

I’d like to welcome travellers into my home, I’ve lived in and explored Cardiff for almost a year now, so I can show you my favourite places, the beautiful parks, the shopping arcades, the central market, the castle, the bay… And maybe you will uncover some amazing places which are unknown to me!

Also, I’m an avid traveler and I understand the value of staying with local people. I’m lucky enough to have an aunty living in Paris and I’ve been there to stay with her during the summer holidays as a teenager. I also recently went there on an inter-rail trip with friends. The two perspectives of Paris were so different, my aunty avoids the tourist attractions and wonders around the unknown, residential parts of the city. Whereas, my friends wanted to see all the major sights in the couple of days we had there, we rushed around and ended up spending a bomb in expensive cafes and sweating a lot on the metro!!

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

One amazing thing I’ve done is volunteering as a teaching assistant in Chennai, in the South of India. This experience took me far out of my comfort zone into a crowded, industrial, polluted city, at the height of summer, with temperatures above 40. It was such a contrast to wet and windy England! I taught English and Science to underprivileged children and in my free time I saw some of India’s wonders, the Hindu temples, the mountains, the street food. By the end of the two months I didn’t want to go home!
