About Me

As a professional musician I have travelled a lot. So I have been to almost all European countries, Mesoamerica, North America (incl. Canada), Central Asia. Now I am more at home, with a five year old adopted child, an adorable Samoyed Dog (also five years old). My husband and I have always hosted guests. We have many friends all over the world.
I am a professional violinist (aswell on period instruments as on modern ones) , I sing professionally, I like side reading and singing together with friends.
I teach children the violin. I play chamber music, I lead Ensembles, organize concerts. You can see more about my professional ME on my website: www.isabelschau.com

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I got to know about couch surfing from a friend who is actually having some kind of time out by traveling. In his blog he mentioned this wonderful idea.
Already in my high school time our school orchestra was formed to travel the east (in cold war times, the 1980 years). We sometimes stayed in private homes during this journeys to Tchechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland. I liked it a lot to get in touch with people without knowing their language... Sometimes we only could use hand and feet to communicate, but it worked!
As a professional musician on tour I always appreciated nice hotels, but on the other hand I was sad about the lack of contact to local people.
I also remind a wonderful experience similar to couch surfing: Once My husband and I were able to stay a wonderful week near central park in NY. A friend had made the connection to our hosts: We shared the love for chamber music and played in the evenings string quartet with Burt & Veronica, both amateurs, like my husband.
My husband is a Theologian, working as a parish priest. Besides his interest in music as an amateur Viola player he ist interested in philosophical questions and always keen on influences from "outside". He practices Yoga.

Living in a large house, we are always open to see guests... So don't hesitate to contact us!
