ABOUT ME

I've always traveled around, with family, friends, or by myself and it has definitely shaped who I am now. I love to try new things like food, music, just meet new people and learn about different cultures. This fascinates me, and that's one of the reason why I want to be a sociologist, so I can understand society but also the amazing differences (in people and so) that we find in our world. I'm very outgoing and consider myself an independent woman. I like music, dance, theatre, movies, and any form of art (culinary included). Even though I enjoy being around people, going places and all that I do need some privacy every now and then, specially now in college. I don't have any special talents, but I enjoy other people's special talents (as in watching them perform, play sports or whatever). I get positive feedback on the person I am (of course people aren't always honest but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt). I have to admit, however, it kind of crushes my ego when people don't like me just because I believe I'm an easy person to be around... I'm from Brazil, but one side of my family is Colombian so I consider Bogota my second home. I'm relatively short but I still manage to play Rugby in college.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm not a religious person but I do believe that we must treat people the way that we want to be treated. I actually find this genius because it fits everything in life; school, relationships, sex, couchsurfing etc. Also I'm all about being straight forward about expectations, feelings and all that, always being respectful and sincere. Making mistakes, however, is completely acceptable and I make them all the time, it's our human condition. So I guess my philosophy is just to not be a dick.

Interessen

I'm a fan of movies and music, so I'll watch and listen to anything! Also food fascinates me, first because it feeds me but also because I believe this is one of the strongest characteristics of a country. Traveling enables me to try all these different this that really make me happy and give me a sense of fulfillment. As far as school goes, sociology has been a huge part of my life (both my parents are sociologist) and I love it, but philosophy has always intrigued me and maybe in the future I'll be able to work more with it.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

As far as music goes I'm super open, I'll listen to Brazilian 80s rock, American pop music, Raggae (huge fan of the Marley family), musicals (Phantom of the Opera is my favorite), Jazz (Billie Holiday is one of my favorites), Colombian pop music, Samba and so on. Like I said before I love watching movies and that can include things from Charlie Chaplin to Disney movies, going through comedies and documentaries. I've been rewatching some Clint Eastwood movies lately. I'm a huge fan of scary movies but in a group of friends I'll watch it. In my early teens Harry Potter was my favorite (I'm a 90's kid after all), today I'll read Colombian, Brazilian literature and try to branch out to American...classics interest me just because they are classics so I'm trying to get a hold of Mark Twain and some others.
