Overview
About Me
I recently graduated college from a tiny liberal arts school in Southern California, a place I've lived my whole life. I grew up just a few minutes from the beach but sadly never learned how to surf! I also grew up surrounded by good food—mostly Chinese homecooking (the best)—family, creativity, and music. While I may not have the best singing voice or musical ability, everyone in my family is constantly singing, jamming, and having a good time. I'm a spontaneous person who lives to find the joy and beauty in all parts of life, whether in a delicious meal, a breathtaking view, or time spent with friends and family.
Right now I can't host, but I can definitely show you around! :) I live right near the beach and know of a handful of great places to eat at!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm finally about to start traveling, and like most people on this site, I would much prefer to meet locals and experience their cities and towns as they do, rather than stay in a fancy hotel. Not that I don't love fancy hotels!
I'm excited to learn from others, to share life with them.

Music, Movies, and Books
David Bowie, Van Morrison, Chet Baker, Billie Holiday, Paul Galbraith... really, the list is pretty long. I like Indian music, Chinese music, sometimes rap, jazz, classical. Slowly amassing a list of the best electric guitar solos of all time. If you have suggestions let me know ;)
In the Mood for Love, Gregory's Girl, Moonstruck, Time Bandits, Waking Ned Devine, currently: wuxia films. Almost always in the mood for apocalyptic sci-fi films and tv.
The Sun Also Rises, The Brothers Karamazov, the Godfather, Jane Austen novels, Robert Frost poetry, David Whyte poetry.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Flew across the country at the drop of a hat to participate in a wilderness survival program in the Appalachian mountains. I got to swim in freezing cold waterfalls, run around barefoot in forests, sleep under the stars (and get eaten alive by mosquitoes). Good times.
Teach, Learn, Share
Over the years I've learned a lot about eastern medicine, the healing arts, bodywork, massage, etc. without really meaning to! It's something I love and would love to share. I can help with English, a little piano, can probably talk for far too long about philosophy, poetry, you name it.
I'd love to learn languages, about cultures, and really any lessons you have to offer, whether that be practical advice, or a new skill or craft (cooking, woodworking, calligraphy, plumbing... honestly, I love to learn new things). I'd also just love to learn about you—whoever you are!
