About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To fully explore my potential, to see the world and to meet great minds!

ABOUT ME

I am currently a college student at Hong Kong. I was born and raised in mainland China in two cities 5000 km (3000 miles) from each other, which had totally different cultures. Therefore though I'm 19, my life was a constant exposure to new culture and lifestyle, allowing me to be a quick adapter and open-minded person. I'm now on exchange at Montreal, Canada. I'm always ready to try new stuffs and explore.

I am a native Mandarin speaker and picked up English, Cantonese and French in the past years. Languages to me are windows to new cultures and mindsets, and that's why I am fond of learning them.

I am now majoring in Cultural and Heritage Management and I am interested in art history and sociology. I am not sure of what my future career will be but I always hope that I could do something that is meaningful to others and that can help filling in the gap of social injustice such as education.

PHILOSOPHY

You can never discover new oceans unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.

Interests

Museums and cultural events (such as festivals, carnivals, city's special night)appeal to me a lot as these are probably what I am going to have a career in in the future (as a cultural heritage manager maybe). I also loves exercising such as running or swimming.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Sound of Music is always my favorite movie of all time. And 12 Angry Men is the best movie I consider. I recently cried out loud when watching Haneke's Amour: though I am still young, I was pretty shocked by the cruelty of the end of life it reveals. And I'd always watch Flipped when I feel blue.

I can't deny that Harry Potter is the series that I grew up with and I must have read tens of times of it in Chinese and English.

I love Jazz and country music a lot. And Keren Ann.:)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My first foreign trip was a seven-week stay (internship) at Jerusalem. The country totally blew my mind: the piety and devotion to religion of people living there is something I've never experienced before.

I've only had the same feeling during my trip at Tibet. I personally am non-religious but the two trips have constantly kept me thinking on the two opposite forms of life.

Moreover I had a 15-day road trip with my parents across the western China from Xiamen to Xinjiang when I was fifteen. Road trip was not popular in China then. We've been to big cosmopolitan cities, suburbs and really poor area along the road, from south to north. What I got from the trip was an eye-opening experience and I can say after since that I do have some first-hand experience on what the majority of mainland Chinese's life is like.

Countries I’ve Visited
