About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To add to my "I've done that" list

PHILOSOPHY

"I live chaos, it's more fun that way: you never know what's going to happen next and half the time you can't remember what you just did."

And on occasion: "You need to smack them until they listen!" - words of advice given to a friend from a Tongan lady (She was talking about whiny kids, but quite frankly, I think you could apply it to just about anything these days!)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

A friend of mine once raved about Couchsurfing and I've been a supporter ever since. If I can't give someone a place to stay, I'm more than happy to give as much info as I can about wherever I am. Be prepared for my opinions, too!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I used to live really far outside of town, so I would live vicariously through other volunteers' experiences and meet their Couchsurfers. I hope to get more involved now that that situation has been changed! And I've been lucky enough to meet some really fun people when I had the chance to surf in NZ! And I kinda surfed in Samoa too ... but I was staying with other Peace Corps volunteers, so that's cheating a little.

Interests

I dabble in a little bit of everything and a lot of nothing at all just to say that I've been there and done that.

  • fishing
  • skydiving
  • hang gliding

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Things done: worked for Peace Corps in Tonga; narrowly survived 16 straight years of school; went skydiving in Hawaii and hang gliding in Brazil; palmed the Naked Cowboy's ass in Times Square; jumped off the Kawarau Bridge and swam with seals in New Zealand; swam with bullsharks in Beqa Lagoon, Fiji; walked lava fields in Samoa; bummed around the Philippines with family; sold jewelry on cruise ships in the Caribbean ...

Things seen: the fishing pigs of Talafo’ou (no lie, it's in the Tonga Lonely Planet
