About Me

I am a 28 year old nature freak, originally from Bosnia that now lives in Zagreb, Croatia. I came to Zagreb in 2007. when I started to attend the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing. The Computing part prevailed and now I work as a Software Developer in Zagreb.
In my free time I like to go hiking or biking - anywhere just to get out of the house and away from cellphones, laptops, TVs....displays in general :).
I live with my boyfriend and our dog, so the three of us go together on these little adventures.

Now I will tell you a bit more about them since anybody who will be staying with me will, in fact, be staying with the three of us :).
My boyfriend, Nikola, is studying to be a conditioning coach at the Faculty of Kinesiology and he is already working as a coach in his little studio "Natural Movement". As you see, both of us are into nature, staying fit and staying healthy. We are not obsessed about it though.... we are not those people that will refuse a cake or a beer because it will compromise our form or ...whatever. We just do things that we enjoy and we doo enjoy a good beer, a good meal and a good conversation :).

Our dog - Ichigo is a three years old mix breed between a Husky and some kind of a shepherd dog (we think :) ). He is a big dog (about 30 kilos) but he is a big softy inside - loves to cuddle and will do anything for a snack (human food, not that dog stuff :D). Eating beside him staring you down is something you get used to :).

If some of you want to be our guests I will give you a brief description about how our typical day looks like so you know what to expect.
On a working day we get up around 7 - 7:30. We drink coffee and prepare breakfast and around 8:40 I leave for work and the boys go out for the morning walk. I am gone for the whole day and Nikola's schedule depends a lot on his clients. He has some fixed sessions in the evening, but sometimes during the day he trains with some of his personal clients.
We are back home around 20:00 - 21:00 depending on the day but we are available for questions and help if you need any during the whole day.

The most important thing to note is that we are vegetarians (trying to go vegan) . We are not aggressive about it and we will not try and enforce anything of ours onto you, but we do understand if somebody does not want to host us or be hosted by us because of that.

For those considering to host us here are some words about us as tourists.,.. When we travel we like to meet the local people, eat the local food and drink the local specials. We never have too much of a plan when we get into a new city, we mostly go with the flow. We are more interested in some local not-all-that-much-touristy things to do, so if our future host has some advice, we will be more than happy to listen :).

We love to travel, but we don't do it as often as we want. That is why, this year we promised ourselves to try and do better - and we have a plan to visit some places that we have on our list for quite some time. To keep the travelling on a manageable budged we decided to try out couchsurfing which will also provide us with some first hand insider information from our hosts and, we believe, will enrich our overall experience of visiting a different part of the world.

Best regards,
Iva, Nikola and Ichigo.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I heard so many good and nice stories about people meeting people and making friends through couchsurfing. I think it is beautiful when like-minded people from different parts of the world get together, share stories and all in all have a good time. Meeting people, seeing the world and making that possible for others is why we all are here :).

Interests

I studied at the faculty of electrical engineering and computing and I'm currently working as a software developer so I am a bit of a geek. My boyfriend is into fitness and movement, but at the same time he just might be a bigger geek than me. We have a dog and in general we love animals and we love going out to nature to hike or to go biking. On the other side we like to chill by drinking good beer and watching all sorts of movies, TV shows and occasionally a good anime :).

As hosts we are more then willing to show you around and give you tips about some of our favorite places, and if our interests don't match we will try and find out anything that you need and be the best hosts possible :).

Music, Movies, and Books

We listen to all kinds of music but most of the time the playlist will probably contain some metal (Metallica, Iron Maiden, Rammstein, Disturbed), some older rock music (as Kansas or Blue Oyster Cult), sometimes, when the mood strikes there will be some Madonna, or Justin Timberlake for example... and sometimes I will just listen to whatever is on the radio so I am familiar with most of the popular music.
We really listen to a variety of music genres so it is difficult to pick just one type of music or just one band (even though, for me, Metallica will always have a place :) ), but if we had to pick then metal would be the preferred musical direction for us :).

My boyfriend, Nikola, is a bigger book worm then I, but we both agree when we say we love Lord of the Rings, Silmarillion and all else written by Tolkien. Harry Potter was a big deal growing up and it still is. On a more serious note we also read most of George R.R.Martin's work and are eagerly waiting for the final chapters of the Song of Ice and Fire.

As in books, we also like fantasy movies and TV shows (GoT obviously :) ). Other favourite genre include anything Sci-Fi: Start Trek, Star Wars, Firefly, Farscape, ...
Some other shows we liked: Westworld, New Girl, Supernatural (in the beginning :) ), The Expanse, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Stranger Things, ... I can't think of anything else at the moment.

In the anime world...the favorites...Hunter x Hunter, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Seven deadly sins, Naruto and Naruto Shippuuden (in the beginning), Neon Genesis Evangelion and most of studio Ghibli's animated movies.
