About Me

I'm 22 from the UK. I'm taking a year out of university to travel. A year with a one way ticket to Mexico and a bit of cash in my pocket - a year to see where life will take me.

I'm currently travelling central and South America for 15 months with the aim of ending up in Patagonia in chile.

My favourite memories and the best times in my life have been from travelling. Meeting a diverse mix of people and sharing beliefs, experiences and stories over a beer or two while watching the sun go down. I think it's the people that make the place - what fun would life be if you didn't have other people to share it with?! Travelling has taught me the most important life lessons. I love meeting new people and experiencing new cultures. Getting to know new places, new food, new ways of life.

Apart from travelling I love sports, I play in a hockey team at home. It's great playing and socialising and it allows you to meet people you otherwise wouldn't have. Running, there's no feeling quite like running down hills with the wind in your hair! Hiking in national parks, climbing volcanoes especially. And last but not least dancing salsaaaaa, great excersise and so much fun. Although my teacher in Guatemala told me I need to find some Latin flair - if you know where I can find it let me know.

Music is a big passion of mine and my major disappointment in life is that I can't sing (not even a tiny bit). Since coming to Central America I have fallen in love with raggaeton and salsa. Dancing the night away in a salsa bar is one of life's best things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couch surfing to meet new people and to hopefully get a real feel of a place. Staying in hostels is such fun but you always end up meeting travellers. I'd love to meet locals who know are the small little local places and hang out with people from the country and make friends all over the world!

I also love to share my culture and food with people, if you like British food...

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite films of all time are American beauty, trainspotting and filth. All time classics they you need to watch if you haven't already!

I love reading, I believe that books hold the wisdom of the world. My favourite book of all time is the lovely bones, a sad story about a girl who is raped and dies as a child but becomes a ghost trapped in purgatory. A sad but incredibly moving tale about forgiving and coming to terms with the horrible things that can befall us. But I have to admit I love Harry Potter also (my weakness - shhhh)

.
I love all different types of music; I think there's always a song to fit the vibe or mood you are in. All types of live music and electronic dance if I had to pick.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Peru - I spent 5 weeks living in the Peruvian jungle learning to be as self sufficient as possible. Living off the land and rivers was a life changing experience and taught me to value everything we have in the western world - everything so readily disposable.

Working
I worked as an au-pair in Vienna which was an awesome experience. Getting to live as a true Austrian and feeling like a native to Vienna. Learning all the small cafes perfect for the rainy days accompanied with a strong coffee and slice of thick Viennese chocolate cake.
Spending the warm summer evenings having BBQs with more types of traditional meats that you could imagine! What's more going to the theatre and opera.

What I Can Share with Hosts

The best thing about travelling is the people you meet. The diverse mix of people that at home you would not meet. I love chatting and sharing experiences and opening my mind and eyes to other views, beliefs and cultures.

I am a fluent English speaker and have taught English in the past so I can help you develop your conversation skills and grammar.
