20 year old student about to start my last year of my Bachelor's in media studies! I want to be a cinematographer after I'm done with school. Born and raised in Bellingham WA, attending college in southern California, and currently spending a semester abroad in Freiburg im Breisgau (not currently able to host for that reason; sorry!). I'm a little bit shy but there's nothing I love more than new experiences and people to share them with, so once I get a bit of time to get to know you I'll open up! My German isn't completely perfect but I've been learning since I was 14 and it's close enough to fluent that we never have to speak a word of English if you don't want to (fine by me; I love having the chance to practice)! I love cooking and I get really excited about vegan food :)

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

During my semester abroad, I have the opportunity to travel, but I don't know anyone in Germany very well, so I have to do it alone. This is a great way to get to know people from all over; you're not really visiting a place unless you're interacting with locals! The smallest couch in a friendly home is better than any hotel. I'm also looking forward to finishing my studies and returning the favor soon :)

I don't watch a lot of movies (I know, I'm a film major, I know) but my favorite director is Claire Denis, and some of my randomly selected favorites include Der Himmel über Berlin, 10 Things I Hate About You, Memento, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Good Bye Lenin, and children's movies (mainly the Lion King). I watch TV more often: big fan of The X Files, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Killing, and Gilmore Girls... hm, one of these things is not like the others...

As far as books go, I LOVE HARRY POTTER and am also a big fan of Stephen King (The Stand and Insomnia are probably my favorites). The Secret History by Donna Tartt is great, and I also really love Joanne Harris, Kazuro Ishigurou, and Anne Patchett. I really liked Let the Right One In back in the day, but I can't remember how to spell the author's name so oops. I also love poetry, with e. e. cummings, Rainer Maria Rilke, Robert Frost, Robert Browning, and Linda Pastan being favorites.
