About Me

--Note: I can't host at the moment due to roommate sensibilities. Sorry.--

I've always thought couchsurfing was pretty much the coolest idea ever. I'm looking forward to traveling on a limited budget, as well as giving folks visiting my town of Los Angeles a welcoming place to stay.

I grew up with a parent in the military so traveling makes me feel at home. Whether it's visiting national parks, going on a hike to a nearby mountain range, or finding a cheap way to visit some place new, one of the greatest thrills for me is to simply Go somewhere and see what happens. I studied theatre and anthropology in college, and enjoy writing and creating. I also have a soft spot for Japanese stuff, mystical lore, games, and nature.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing for a more personal experience of the places I visit, and for the affordable lodging! I've tried sleeping under the stars without bedding or a tent and it only works when the weather and location play along. Few things will strip you of your sense of self as abruptly as a cold, sleepless night. I do believe couchsurfing is about a free place to sleep for a few days. If the space is there and you are the sharing type, it makes sense to want to use it to help facilitate someone else's exploration of our awesome planet. It seems almost like something that should have been built into our society from an early point on. I like the idea of an ever fluctuating world community made up of travelers from all walks of life. (Also, it's fun getting to see other people's interior design choices.)

Interests

I'm a fan of long distance bicycle rides and activities where the countryside or wilderness is the setting. Camping, canoeing, climbing, geo-caching, rock skipping.. I enjoy Rennaissance faires and live action RPG's such as Dagorhir and Belegarth (foam-sword fencing). My fighting style is modeled after various anime and video game characters so needless to say, it looks pretty epic. I do mostly nature photography. I've been a part of a bunch of theatrical productions as an actor, technician, or creative. I played piano for various churches for several years.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Forgiven my enemies.

Found a secret passage into the catacombs of Paris.

Came face to face with a baby bear in the Idaho wilderness.

Seen the stars.

Set a black widow spider free.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a fan of improv music-making and storytelling, and would be happy to teach and play any games that incorporate either. I can share my favorite natural locations around Los Angeles County. Also, we can play some D&D (dungeons and dragons) if you want to learn, or play an impromptu level!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to brainstorm and come up with ideas to help friends and others with their own creative endeavors. I occasionally do marketing work and so can offer my opinions on how I think a given creation will affect viewers, or what could be tweaked to evoke a desired effect. Additionally, if we ever do a hike I can promise to bring plenty of curiosity for exploring and endurance to make it to our goal. Though smelling the flowers and taking pictures along the way is of vital importance.
