About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Have fun while deciding what to do when I grow up...

ABOUT ME

Living in downtown Duluth .Building a Norwegian Færing with all hand tools. Oh , this is a cool lap-strake rowing sailing boat. Western Red Cedar on native Burr -Oak. Very fun and very slow going . We're making all the nails outta copper pennies !

We will launch our community built boat soon ! With help from the Harbor City International school Choir. 45 students will sing Skæddi into Lake Superior.

I am also helping the local Waldorf School with woodworking projects . Super fun with lots of room for creativity. Bright kids , engaged parents .

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't traveled much recently and only hosted peripherally - but last years couch surf just outside Oslo was a blast !

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I couch surfed back ' in the day ' because it was a great way to travel and meet people. Now as it is more organized , and there is the Internet ! , and fantastic potential for greater connection with people from diverse backgrounds .

Interests

Bikes. It is my main mode of transportation. And I passionately love getting kids and adults matched with a used bike at our little free 'Bike Cave'
Tonight a contra Dance with 4- mile Portage
13 1/2 Lives of Captain BlueBear is a great read. By Walter Moers. Also by the same author, Rumo.

Music, Movies, and Books

Leo Kottke .Boiled in Lead. Fiddle tunes
David Lindley , Michelle Shocked... These are all rather dated...
I like Morris tunes. And very recently reviving old dance tunes from Norway.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I helped out in New Orleans after Katrina. I went down to help out - maybe for a week or so - but ended up staying all winter. And fell in love with the place. It was an extremely rewarding experience. I got to go back April '10 to deliver a truckload of bikes from our non-profit bike shop in St.Paul.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love traveling in wilderness areas. Love working intimately with wood from the forest. And teaching adults and kids green woodworking.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I usually will have an interesting story or two about living close to the land and water in Northern Minnesota.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Finland, France, Greece, Iceland, India, Italy, Japan, Nepal, Norway, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Norway, United States
