I enjoy indigenous music from around the world, especially music from South America and the Andes. I also enjoy traditional Lao/Isan, and other music from South East Asia, Australian Aboriginal music, and Pacific Island music, especially from the Solomon Islands and PNG. When I have to concentrate I often listen to Bach or Beethoven. My favorite 20th Cent. musical genre is R&B, Funk. Some contemporary artists I like are Royksopp, Robyn, Coldplay, U2, Franz Ferdinand, Muse, and others.

I read a lot of non-fiction. (will add more later)

One amazing thing I have done was to get lost in Japan, it was one of the best times I've had on an 8 hour layover.

One of my most deep rooted beliefs is that everyone has something to teach, so I hope that the time I spend with hosts will be opportunities to learn something new from each other.

I think hosts will find that I have a pleasant attitude and that I am very personable, so it's not too hard to get to know me or to begin talking about any subject; sometimes I've started conversations that end up discussing the nature of the universe, human behavior, love, and the beauty of nature.

First thing: when I am in someone's home, I make sure that I am clean, tidy, and respectful. I usually ask the host to let me know the house rules right away.

If I spend enough time in a place, I'm sure there will be opportunities to cook for my hosts or take them out to a restaurant for food and fun.

Don't be shy: if you need something done around your house (cleaning, etc.) that I can do, please let me know.

Don't tell, but I usually surprise my hosts with a gift from my home country.
