About Me

Hi! I’m an Australian abroad, taking a solo trip around Europe after just graduating secondary school. I’ve got friends all over the place, but not all of them have a place I can stay, so I’m looking to meet new people and see interesting cities through new eyes

In my personal life I’m a writer — I’ve been published before, but not for profit, and I’m studying it at university. I love observing the world around me and recording it — when people read my writing I feel as though I am letting them see through my eyes for a bit, and I’m always eager to compare perspectives with anybody I meet

I’m also double vaccinated and very comfortable wearing face masks if you prefer.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

After staying with family for a few weeks, I’m finally on the road again, and a friend (the one in my profile pictures) recommended me this site as a good alternative to hostels! I’m always running on a pretty tight budget, so this seemed like the perfect way to save some money and still get to travel.

Of course, the reason I was convinced to get on here is because of all the incredible stories my friends told me about their experiences on here. I’m hoping to join them in such a welcoming, global community!

Interests

Reading and writing, primarily (watching movies counts as reading imo). I’m always looking to see or experience something new, in particular beautiful architecture or scenery. I’ve lost countless hours staring at a particularly beautiful fresco or landscape.

Of course, I’m young and in Europe, so I’ll take whatever chance I can to go out and have a good time, but (if I get there ... it takes a lot!) I’m a happy drunk that knows how to control myself and I take pride in my awareness of others while under the influence.

Music, Movies, and Books

There really isn’t much I dislike or won’t watch: even “bad” things have something to teach you, so why not learn! I read as much as I can, as widely as I can, but my true comfort zone is sci fi — I even write some, occasionally

I enjoy some of Wes Anderson’s movies, as well the Wachowski Sisters, Greta Gerwig, and Edgar Wright. Anything from A24 is very interesting to me as well, but I’m always looking to expand my pallet.

My music taste is always eclectic — the nicher the better. Burna Boy, Hozier, Mac deMarco, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Gorillaz, and Gang of Youths are hitting rn.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Come over here! I’ve also done some huge cross country hikes and cycling trips back in Aus, and I was lucky enough to spend the last two years of my education at a select entry art school, training to be an actor.

Teach, Learn, Share

I reckon you can learn something from everything if you look hard enough for the lesson. My favourite thing to do is listen to a person tell stories about their pasts — funny or sad or anything in between.

In terms of what I can teach ... some of my family recipes, how to have fun when you shouldn’t be, a couple of good book recommendations. What else do you need to know?

What I Can Share with Hosts

I’m a pretty good cook, and an avid conversationalist — I love hearing about what people are working on, creatively or otherwise, in their lives. I’m equally as happy to be minimal presence if you’d prefer! I’m also more than happy to share some of my writing if you’re curious, and I’m happy to chip in with some chores if need be.
