About Me

I come from Sheffield in the North of England but live in Gütersloh in North Western Germany. At university I studied German and Spanish and speak these languages fairly well.
I enjoy travelling and meeting new people, though I appear to be shy and quite serious on first impression.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I travel on my own a lot and I'm coming to appreciate that I enjoy seeing new places a lot more when I meet new people.

Unfortunately I'm not in a position to host people at the moment; I live in shared rented flat and both my flatmate and I work a strict nine to six.

Interests

When it comes to travelling one of my main interests is nature and looking for beautiful places, or animals and birds that I haven't seen before.

I love live music and one of my favourite things to do is seeing bands, be it by travelling somewhere new or where I am.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: The King Blues, Gogol Bordello, Sonic Boom Six, My Chemical Romance, Avenged Sevenfold, Parkway Drive, Macklemore, Kanye West.

Movies: A lot of really dark British comedies with some 90s nostalgia.

Books: The Anubis Gates (Tim Powers), His Dark Materials (Philip Pullman), American Gods (Neil Gaiman); a mixture of fantasy and literary fiction, and I'm trying to read more history books as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've written three short stories that I published in online magazines, and I'm very proud of two of them in particular.

I ran the Gütersloh Half Marathon in October 2015.

Whether these are amazing is very much in the eye of the beholder.

Teach, Learn, Share

I used to teach English in Spain.

I always enjoy learning new things, like languages and how to cook things.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook pretty well, and can make a variety of things, including baking.
