PHILOSOPHY

I'm quite content overachieving and cramming everything I want and need to do into a day. I love learning! especially from survivors, community leaders and educators. I believe change, personal acts of kindness, small miracles and a higher power.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been a direct care provider for persons with acquired brain injuries as well as a domestic shelter advocate on third shifts. I've slept in different homes and facilities (legally it was a sleep shift) and have woken up to interesting situations.
Otherwise in my personal life I've had a pleasant time visiting girlfriends throughout Connecticut for weekly sleepovers to catch up, have a glass of wine and make a good meal.

Hiking, picnicking, cooking with friends & family, having a cup of coffee or glass of wine, watching the news or HGTV, cheering on sports teams/athletes, looking at houses I wish I could buy now on Zillow, Live music & dancing, listening and learning!

I love Sylvester Stallone & Will Farrell movies! I have had the most fun seeing Billy Joel, Against Me!, Pearl Jam, probably Luke Bryan & a group of Blue Grass players in concert. I just want to be moved or be moving! Jodi Piccoult is my favorite author, but the Kite Runner, the Mole People and Flowers for Algernon are top reads for me!

I've seen people straighten out their lives from addiction as well as learn to become non-violent.
Just this summer I went to Vieques, PR with the UConn School of Social Work and was able to kayak in the bio bay. Thaumaturgic isn't a strong enough word to describe the tranquil and delicate experience.
Nature is very grounding for me so I was quite content and giddy to hug a redwood in California, the Angel Tree in South Carolina and an unmarked rainforest tree in El Yunque, PR.

I know and can comfortably convey a fair amount of research regarding interpersonal violence, abuse, neglect, and childhood trauma.
I can share how to make delicious chili, paella, grilled vegetables, mofongo, carrot cake, smoothies, lattes & sangria.
