About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Be the change you want to see in the world
ABOUT ME
Between May 2012 and May 2013 I travelled the world, going to 30 countries across USA, Europe, India/Nepal, and Asia. I've also been to Brasil (Rio de Janeiro state) and Australia.
While I look very much like every other Anglo-Saxon, my ethnicity is very mixed. I'm Scottish, British, Irish, Tahitian and Tongan (my grandmother). My maternal great grandparents were black pacific islanders, and I grew up in a very multicultural area of Auckland's north shore called Beach Haven.
I like to surf, sail, run (when I haven't injured myself, currently I have a fractured foot), write, drink with friends, and adventure. I'm a singer songwriter bluesman. Some of my songs are here www.stillwasthenight.tumblr.com
PHILOSOPHY
Do unto others as you would have done to yourself.
Hide under a rock and all you'll get is a cold, hard rock to hide under. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. No bet is a a bet! And risk lies in everything.
Hakuna matata, don't sweat the small stuff! And the end is only where you measure it.. So don't measure it.
Laugh often, love always, live well!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I live in an apartment in the city centre with a flatmate so I can't host usually, but I'm more than happy to be a guide to Auckland. I generally go to the Couchsurfing drinks on a Wednesday and enjoy meeting people from different countries and cultures. The world is one big family and Couchsurfing embodies this ethos perfectly.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love literature, film, and music - particularly blues, jazz, soul/motown, rock and roll, folk, flamenco, bossa nova, and reggae.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In November 2012 I saw Mt Everest in Nepal after hiking for two weeks in the Himalayas and got severe altitude sickness at 4000m. I loved Nepal so much that I went back there in April 2013 for a second time, and spent a month living in Kathmandu and hanging out in Pokhara.
