About Me

ABOUT ME

I am someone that will drop everything and move across the country to follow a dream without a plan and without any money... and make it happen. I strive to stay positive, because I see so much anger, racism, sexism, socio-economic issues, oppression around me... I struggle waking up everyday wanting to change the world or enjoy the day. I am on a search for full freedom of my individuality. I am an artist, poet, writer, lover, fighter, lesbian, activist, sexual liberator, and revolutionary- "too many things for one fucking spoon." I have been through all sorts of bad in my life and always been able to rise above and carry it with me as strength for the next day. I have the ability to sense people's pain and take it away... with words, a simple touch, or a smile. When I fall in love, I fall hard and love hard. I don't need much- just cigarettes, mari, and something healthy to eat- and a safe space to sleep. :)

Interests

What tends to grab my attention the most are how the most marginalized individuals are being treated and making sure that I'm supporting them anyway I can- volunteering, speaking out and educating those around me, or a simple compliment "I like your crazy ass hair. Rock on!". I feel like a guardian for - transgenders, queers, latinos, african americans of a lower socio-economic class, homeless, drug users, sex workers, strong women- I am a huge supporter of people that do what they want and don't let others keep them down. When you live that way it's difficult, because everyday you hear something from someone that wants to shove you into a category that helps them feel more comfortable. I am all for continuous change so that no one is ever able to categorize me! I spend my days listening to music, reading, writing, watching the world, volunteering (syringe exchange, women's shelters, soup kitchens, exc), dancing, watching movies, drag shows, open mics, poetry, coffee, and bagels! ... I'm trying to get into yoga and meditation.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was living in Fruitvale Oakland, California- walking down the street, I saw a guy with a suited up bicycle- big huge speakers built on the back, bumping down the street. It was fucking awesome! He had to have spent so much time and money on that bike... you could feel the love.

I was volunteering on an outreach van- it was really late at night, we usually take the van out from 11pm-5am. The driver of the van, this beautiful woman with piercing russian blue eyes, stopped at a salvadorian young man at the bus stop. She just simply asked, "How are you?" It took a few moments to get him to realize that we were truly there to listen to him. He began to cry and he told us that after thirteen years of living here, no one has ever asked him how he was doing.

This last story reminds me of my last roommate, Wilson. He's from Mexico City- "Don't fuck with my American Dream" is spraypainted throughout his shop. I first met Wilson because I came into his tattoo shop to get my nipples pierced with one of the women I was dating at the time. He gave us a deal since he got to pierce two sets of beauitful breasts. I could sense how sweet and kind he was through the way he handled my breasts and the way he pierced them. A couple months later he became my roommate and my best friend. :)
