About Me
Hey, I’m Jacob, 28, Aussie (Brisbane/Sunshine/Gold Coast).
My Couchsurfing story started in the weirdest way: first night at a 7-Eleven job a coworker invited me to his sister’s wedding → I said yes! So it ended up on being my first solo trip. That detour led me to Vietnam (got scammed, lost, overpaid, but ate like a king and met lifelong friends). Since then, travel’s basically been my life.
✨ Travel style: light backpack, say-yes-to-new-things, food-driven (I was veggie, now mostly, but I’ll break it for once-in-a-lifetime meals).
✨ Best decision: got a 5-year Indian visa (turns out, weddings there are endless 😅).
✨ Couchsurfing vibe: I like real connections, meals, walks, deep convos, or just chilling.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because travel’s always better when shared. I’ve met amazing people through Couchsurfing, and I’m back for more. Not the best planner, hangouts & last-minute fits me perfectly.
I'm always a respectful guest, help out where I can, and enjoy spending time with people whether it’s over a meal, a walk, or just talking about life.
What I enjoy most is getting a feel for what life is actually like in a place. The touristy stuff can be fun and worth seeing, but I also like getting a sense of how people live, the places they actually go, and the vibe outside the main attractions. So even if I can't be hosted, I always like getting new recommandations for the cities I'm visiting!

Music, Movies, and Books
I’m really into music, especially Australian alternative, rock, and indie. I’m not usually that patriotic, which is probably why I enjoy being away from home so much. But when it comes to music, I think Australia does it best.
I love discovering new artists and sharing music with people I meet. Swapping songs is one of my favorite ways to connect.
When it comes to movies, I’m all about comedy. Anything light, weird, or just something that makes me laugh.
Books are harder for me. Some are interesting, but I struggle to stay focused. I usually end up putting them down and putting music on instead.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Followed a wedding invitation into a new country, got lost on the way, and somehow found the beginning of a completely different life.
Teach, Learn, Share
🌍 I'm learning Spanish (slowly), knows a bit of French & can keep a conversation in Indonesian. I can teach you Aussie English (50% swear words, 30% shortened words, 20% “what even is this?”).
💻 Tech nerd, happy to talk coding, internet, gadgets.
🌱 I used to have a lot of plants back home, maybe I can revive one you’ve left in the corner!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I like to think I’m funny. You can be the judge of that.
I’m happy to chat and hang out if you’re up for it, but I’m also totally fine doing my own thing. I know people have lives outside of Couchsurfing, and I really appreciate anyone who opens their door to me, no matter how much time they have to share.
I study and do a bit of freelance work online, so sometimes I need to carve out some quiet time. Usually I’ll just head to a coffee shop to get stuff done.
