ABOUT ME

Hello!

It has been a long time since I've used this site but I'm very excited to get active on it again. In my life in the USA I didn't spend or have much time for traveling. As a bartender I spent most weekends and national holidays accommodating the tourists and local drunks of my hometown and spent my free time during the week with close friends talking about music, going to concerts, and having some quiet (or sometimes not so quiet) drinks in one of our favorite bars. I have a dog back home who I miss terribly and think about all the time. One of my favorite things to do on the mornings of my days off would be to take her with me to a cafe and read or listen to music out on the patio. I was dreaming of this trip for 5 years before i finally began it and I'm very excited to finally be here!

You can see from my history on this app that I haven’t used it to stay with people for a long time. Actually, the last time I stayed with someone was when I was 22 and this was just a website. The app hadn’t been made yet! After talking with a close friend I realized that I’ve been missing out and I want to join the community again.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I use it often to find language exchanges, social meet-ups, and people to go on day trips with. I would like to use it more for actual couchsuring.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It was a couchsurfing host who picked me up from the airport 7 years ago in Lima, Peru the first time I ever left the country alone. We barely shared a common language at the time but he invited me into his home, introduced me to his family and friends and was a more generous host than I could have even hoped. Everyone i've met on this site since has been great and I'm happy to be a part of this community.

The last time I traveled for an extended period I was very interested in drinking a lot of beer and coffee, dancing, and experiencing the local culture by going to parties and staying out all night. These things still appeal to me but my interests have gotten broader as I've gotten older. Now I would also like to explore the local museums, experience the local art scene, go on hikes, practice language as often as possible and ask lots of questions.

My taste in music is eclectic but what I listen to most often is hip-hop. My favorite movie is Jurassic Park and my favorite books are The Brief and Woundrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz and The Residue Years by Mitchell Jackson

I can share my love of music, humor, and excitement to be here. I’m not a great cook but I follow directions well. Also if you have any questions about English you can feel free to ask me. I speak Spanish pretty well but I’m still learning. I’d love it if we could help each other
