ABOUT ME
I'm a Canadian journalist based in Brussels, with interests in photography, books, ideas and the built environment. I have a fondness for maps and film photography. Brutalism and novel urban planning are the routes to my heart. You can check out my blog at medium.com/@jacobparry
I'm a major history and literature nerd and I tend to always have at least a book on the go. I love to read about places I'm travelling so reading recommendations are always very welcome.
In terms of work I write a lot about politics and economics. I'm an extremely curious person and I always ask a lot of questions. LGBT here.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I always like to meet up with locals (coffee, a drink, a walk) to learn more about a place. I'm unable to host these days but I always enjoy the chance to meet up with visitors to Brussels with an interest in urbanism and/or stories to tell.
I've hosted in Montreal, travelled in Pacific Northwest. Travelling in Romania/Turkey/the Balkans this spring.

Music, Movies, and Books
NFB docs.
Music: minimal stuff, electronic stuff, local stuff
Leonard Cohen and Mount Eerie
Fond of Brazil at the moment: Baden Powell, Clementina de Jesus
Always fond of books, journals, magazines. A topic better broached in person!
NPR and local affiliates (KCRW!), and audiobooks
Silence is fine too.
Teach, Learn, Share
Hmm more student than teacher. Fond of hand drawn maps. Again, I ask a lot of questions.
