About Me

I live on beautiful Waiheke Island in a rustic home amidst the ngahere bush & birdlife with my daughter. We don't see the neighbours here & it is beautifully peaceful. I love walking & exploring, taking photos; I love travelling, food & going to the cinema. I'm not into parties or high energy socialising. I like my quiet alone space, but also like to meet new people, share food & have a glass of cider.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on couchsurfing.com because my son is getting married in Birmingham, Alabama next month. I am on a shoestring budget & would love to couchsurf to get a sense of a new place & meet new people. I have friends who couchsurf & speak highly of it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have quite an eclectic interest in music, however I really like the quiet at the moment, maybe listening to an audio book while I crochet. I am taking part in a community project whereby we are crocheting a Xmas tree. I have taught myself to crochet whilst watching jaydainstitches on youtube. She is the bomb! I have crocheted 51 squares. I became almost addicted to crocheting, but now the project is almost complete. I am reading my first graphic novel at the moment, American Gods & the other night I went to see Jojo Rabbit at the cinema, which I really enjoyed!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My first time overseas was with my daughter who was 10 at the time & was to Thailand. We loved exploring Bangkok, riding the river boat & getting to know the local area where we were staying. The delicious food & getting used to its hotness, which we both now love. There were so many new experiences & amazing experiences too. I hadn't done much overseas traveling & still haven't, so I'm very much looking forward to this new adventure into the unknown.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to immerse myself in the ngahere bush, I think that is where I am most happy. In a busy city, I will find a park & a tree. Consequently, I have learnt about the healing power of our rakau trees & plants, & are still learning. I am also a gardener & work with children, so it all ties in nicely.
