I always wanted to be either a princess or a mermaid. But eventually opted for a mermaid as they are allowed to get muddy. (And I have a deep love for good seafood) also. Prince Harry is a little to ginger for me. But hey I'm still young.

I'm an au pair currently working in DC America. I had aupairs as a kid. So after one year of university studying nursing and basically being a glorified butt wiper I decided to work with kids instead (not sure how I thought there would be less poop involved...)

I worked in the UK for 3.5 years with an amazing family (basically my second family. I was known to turn up for dinner occasionally after I finished there... If I'm being completely honest I was known to turn up, let myself in with my key and make dinner and let it be a surprise for when everyone else got home)

So I've lived with other families and had them live with me basically my whole life. So couch surfing was basically invented for me 😁 also my days of university have made me an expert at caring For the severely drunk. I've had to stop my room mate from peeing in the kitchen trash can on more than one occasion. And then clean up their vomit and take them to bed.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm in the US for just one year. Being able to see everything I want in such a limited space of time is fo acidly difficult. So couch surfing will really help me get the most out of my year! Also. I love meeting new people and hearing their stories.

As a kid my house was always pretty full. I would have friends stay round. My brother would have friends stay round. My mum never said no. If anyone was having difficulties they would just be invited to live with us for a while. (Which worked well for me and my brothers friends were older and cuter) so having an open heart and home is something I really relate to and will do myself when I'm older and have my own home! (But I can probably hook some of you up at my mums place in the UK until then. As I said. She never says no)

Interests

I love reading! Books, libraries, my kindle, fan fictions of various qualities. I love them all! Free books are my downfall. And will in fact end up being very expensive shipping them back to England with me when I leave. But I love them too much to leave behind.

I also LOVE water. Swimming, wading through River's, relaxing at the beach, water slides, water balloon fights, iceskating. I've even been known to drink it on occasion. Basically if there is a remote possibility of getting wet I'm all for it!

I really enjoy a good debate (I'm calling it this instead of just an argument as it makes me sound nicer) but I get really into arguing my point and having someone else argue theirs. I think I once convinced my mum that I didn't need to wash the spoons up once. Still not sure how I did that. It was definitely my turn... I'm not massively into politics. But anything philosophical I can talk for hours.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walked the Great Wall of China
Seen the Grand Canyon
Taken a nap at Stonehenge
Baked a chocolate cake that wasn't completely dry
Made it to 24 without owning a pair of crocs
Make honey jack Daniels flavour ice cream from scratch.

Basically my whole life is a massive achievement.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm excellent at telling stories. Especially to kids. I keep my 3 and 5 year old (host kids) giggling for hours with stories of a gassy dog and my old cat that once jumped into the toilet bowl mid flow. (Poor kitty) but dose me with alcohol and my stories are much less kid friendly. I like to think of story telling was a real profession I would be a millionaire by now. But you don't need to pay me. Just let me use your lovely couch 😉

I'm basically an endless stream of random facts. My specialities tend to be anything to do with kids movies... All things Harry Potter (to an embarrassing level of detail to be honest) biology facts, swearing in various languages, I'm also great at spelling! (This was much more useful 8 years ago when not everyone had a portable spellcheck in their pocket)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I like to think I'm a pretty good cook. I make lots of different things (more savoury than baking. Although I make a mean lemon drizzle cake) if you are a meat an 2 veg type of person I can make your dreams come true.

Also. I'm English and have a great love of gravy. So the chances of me travelling with my own instant granules are pretty high.

I'm pretty amazing at wrapping presents... The corners are straight. Everything looks nice. Honestly if it's near Christmas or a significant birthday I could make your life so much easier!
