Overview
About Me
My love for the world began when my family hosted exchange students in our home. I later went on to be an exchange student myself (4 times! Holland, Germany, Japan and Germany). Later after marrying a foreigner and starting our own family, we hosted our own "daughter" and "son" each for one year. My family and I love hosting friends and family in our home, so why not someone we haven't met before? It's the best way I know to make the world a better place.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've recommended it to younger friends, but when I'm not travelling with the whole family, it is more fun to stay with someone and see the town through local eyes. Having just completed our move to Romania (July 2016), we will slowly start accepting visitors.
Interests
Sports and trying to stay fit (defying age and gravity!) Travelling and travel planning, learning about other cultures first hand, teaching, spending time with friends over a good meal and a fine wine, family movie night every Friday in front of the TV with one of our 500+ DVDs!

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Comedies and romances, or romantic comedies (I can be flexible!) Murder mysteries and sometimes action, too.
Books: educational, stories that will influence the way I see things.
Music at home: Classical
Music in the car: Anything but classical music!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I put a 5k race team together to support a friend suffering from cancer. There were so many on our team that they created a new category for us titled "Friends for Friends" which we won two years back to back. My friend remains cancer free after 10 years! Bringing people together on any level makes me happy.
Teach, Learn, Share
After living in Spain for 4 years (2012-2016), I can proudly announce we visited all 17 Spanish Comunidades. I have also planned city trips to London, Dublin and Edinburgh for small groups, so I can share that know-how, should that be of interest to someone. Once we get established in Romania, we will certainly continue travelling and eventually be able to make local recommendations.
What I Can Share with Hosts
