Overview
About Me
Throughout my life, I've navigated through drastically different social and cultural environments--- sometimes by choice and other times by chance. I was born in Seoul, South Korea, where I lived for the first seven years of my life. In 2003, my family and I moved to Los Angeles, which at the time felt like a foreign, strange world with its palm trees, graffiti, and people who looked SO different from the ones I was used to. At the very moment where I landed in the United States, it felt as if my understanding of the world was instantly expanded and redefined.
Because of my background, I became fascinated with how people from different cultures can be so dissimilar and similar to one another in ways that are hard to describe. So, I majored in Anthropology and Art History in College to understand the difference and similarities in people--- anthropology to see the wisdom that everyone carries within their day to day lives, and art history because I love things that are beautiful and honest.
It is ultimately my interest in people that are driving my desire to travel. I've traveled extensively in the United States, and I've seen most of the states along the West and East coasts. I've also been to Asia, where I visited South Korea and Japan. I will soon be going on an international trip to Europe in October, and I'm hoping to meet up with people when I am there!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm interested in meeting travelers in Los Angeles to connect with people from different cultures. I can't host right now, but I'd love to meet up for a meal or a drink or to just hang out. I love showing people my city!
I am also looking into potentially staying with hosts in Europe during my trip in October.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm kind of a "film buff" and I watch a lot of movies. I love Japanese film, like Hausu, Throne of Blood, Onibaba, Harakiri, and Ikiru. I also enjoy classic American cinema, like Sunset Blvd, The Maltese Falcon, etc.
My favorite authors right now are Ottesa Moshfegh, George Saunders, and Donna Tartt.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you things about Art/Art History! I majored in the subject in college, and I plan on entering the industry after my travels.
I'm interested in learning about cooking! I barely know how to cook so I'd love to see what people do for their meals.
