ABOUT ME

I would like to think that I am easy going, well rounded and appreciate cultures. Originally, I am from Jamaica and grew up in the USA. While in the USA, I studied and worked but needed a change. The solution was to travel the world. Feeling guilty about just traveling, I decided to do my MBA while living aboard in Spain, China, Brazil and California. After this accomplishment, I moved to Cayman Islands for professional employment where I met my boyfriend. We then decided to travel the world and this time not feeling guilty about it. After 20 months and 39 countries, we were ready to settle down and seek employment in Europe - we ended up in charming Jersey, Channel Islands for 3 years and then moved back to the West to the sunny Bahamas for 2 years. Once again, my husband's job relocated him to Bermuda and now we are happily living here for 2 weeks but having a bit of challenge finding an apartment! We try to make the apartment hunting fun but I must admit it that it is not as fun as we would like it to be!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently, I do not have a home to share. However, I hope to settle down in the next months. Once this is achieved, then I will be happy to host fellow coach surfers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have been a lot of fellow travelers around the world that has couch surfed and they love it. I like the idea that we meet local people to introduce us to their culture. For me, it is not just about the free accommodation, it is more about networking with fellow travelers for ideas and sharing our experiences, being around like-minded people. We have surfed with a lovely Brazilian couple and stayed with many friends. Similarly, friends, family and surfers have stayed with us.

Interests

My hobbies are hiking/exercising, dancing, cooking, reading, yoga, snorkeling, tennis, golfing, cycling, and of course traveling and appreciating culture. Most importantly, I love giving back to society and have done quite a few projects in the last years.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This is hard. I am very blessed to have seen so much. My favorite was the Galapagos Islands because of the wildlife, nature, people and culture. I dove with around 11 different sharks - whale sharks, lemon sharks, leopard sharks, Galapagos sharks, hammerheads, white tip sharks, black tip sharks and nurse sharks. Seeing the manta rays were just impressive. Also, hiking Santa Cruz National Park in Northern Peru was a challenge to get to 4750 meters but loved it in the end. Also, climbing Mount Kili was quite a challenge. I have also done the "around the island" walk of Jersey Channel Islands - 50 miles.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Michael and I have been living an expatriate lifestyle for the last 10 years – Cayman Islands, Jersey Channel Islands, Bahamas, Bermuda, USA and Germany. We are passionate about traveling, meeting people, appreciating their cultures and are involved in numerous projects giving back to society.

We consider ourselves a very loving, quiet, clean and organized couple. I love to prepare different cuisines; we enjoy eating and sharing them while drinking very socially. We are also very sporty, love the outdoors and practice yoga.
