Hello! I hope you're having a great day. My name is Jaiden, I am 23 years old and from close to Toronto, Ontario.

I'm a very upbeat, bubbly, and smiley individual who has a huge passion for life. I love going on adventures, exploring new places, playing board games, running, relaxing, reading, people watching, staying active, eating yummy foods and lots more. I would describe myself as friendly, responsible, adventurous, compassionate and open-minded. I would say I'm an outgoing introvert. I love meeting new people, trying new things, exploring and making memories, but I also appreciate days of rest, relaxation and peace in nature. I love solo-travelling because it encourages me to step out of my comfort zone and discover more about myself and the world around me.

I speak English, but I am working on learning French! If you speak any French, or are also learning French, I would love to be able to practice with you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I absolutely love to travel and meet new people. I heard about Couchsurfing from a friend and think it is such an amazing idea. I have had one Couchsurfing experience thus far (in 2018 in Florida), and I truly cherish this uplifting experience and am more than excited to do it all over again.

I have recently (ish) finished my post-secondary education, and am unsure what I want to do with my life career wise. I plan to travel through Europe from February 2023-April 2023 and am hoping to meet people of all ages, from all different cultures and explore the world while doing so. I love the fact that Couchsurfing gives the opportunity to stay with locals and experience local life! To me, that's what travelling is all about. In the future when I have my own place, I am very excited to be able to host travellers from around the world and return the favour.

I always treat any home I enter just as if it were my own (or even better, as if it were my parent's house! And FYI, I greatly respect my parents....so this is wonderful news for you...).

Interests

I am interested in pretty much everything! I'm a very curious individual and I absolutely love learning new things. (Please....tell me more!! I'm genuinely interested!). I enjoy reading, self-improvement, the outdoors, sports/working out, mindfulness, board games (or any games!), helping others, music, karaoke/singing, cooking and baking, exploring, sunrises/sunsets, and getting creative with arts and crafts! In September, I started a laser engraving business making and selling personalized gifts and it has been a ton of fun for me to have this creative outlet!

Creating videos is also a huge passion of mine. I love documenting my life and my memories through pictures and videos. Throughout my upcoming travel, I hope to film a great deal about what life is like in different countries and regions in the world.

I enjoy starting my day with a mix of reading, meditation and/or journalling. I enjoy relatively simple days filled with the great outdoors, authentic conversation, and meaningful actions. Spending time with others and learning about other people's philosophies and ways of living is my idea of a good time! I look forward to meeting you.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all kinds of music and switch up what I listen to all the time! My favourite song of all time is Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls (specifically the live version of Iris played in Buffalo, NY in the rain...you can watch it here and hopefully you'll understand why I love it so much. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HZM0QiuUS8).

Lately I've been listening to lots of alternative rock, pop rock, singer/songwriter and country music. I pretty much love anything I can sing along to! However, I also really enjoy listening to podcasts and have been gravitating towards podcasts more often lately. I would absolutely love for you to share your music interests with me!

A movie that I've watched recently that I enjoyed is Top Gun: Maverick. I'm not a huge movie person as my brain handles content in shorter periods of time a bit better. But I am still always down for a movie night!

I have always loved reading, however the last couple of years I haven't prioritized reading. I am hoping that will be changing in 2023! I'm currently reading The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I enjoy self-improvement books along with a good mix of mystery, thriller, and romance books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Participated in a 5 week fully immersive French program in 2022 (English was forbidden...and I only spoke a couple words in French when I entered).

Worked as a nanny in France in 2017.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love authentic conversations and really connecting with others. I love sharing stories and ideas about my life, and I love hearing about other individual's experiences throughout their journey in this life that they are living. I truly believe that knowledge and empathy, along with healthy communication, has the ability to have an immensely positive impact on the world we live in. I would love to cook and/or bake for you as well if you are open to it! I'm no Michelin star chef, but I find a great deal of comfort in food and the process of cooking/baking.

I would love to share the positive impact that meditation and mindfulness have had on my physical, mental, and spiritual health and wellbeing if you are interested in this at all! I have overcome many obstacles in my life and I am extremely happy and proud of the life I'm living now and how in-tune I am with my body and mind.
