About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Radical inclusion, self expression, and adventure.

ABOUT ME

I work hard and I play hard. I love to travel (a given here I know, but its true). I'm not really that into describing myself, so pardon if this is brief. Interests include music (can't live without it and have a massive collection. Whatever you're into--I probably have it or something similar.) Live music drives a lot of my traveling...saw my favorite band, Widespread Panic, in the Dominican Republic last year and turned into one of the best trips I've ever made. Literature is another passion...love reading and love talking about books we've read. Also, I'm a self-assessed nerd, which includes all things tech and of course science fiction. If you want to chat about what exists in black holes and outside the universe, I'm your girl. I also know a good deal about art. Hiking runs through my veins...my Grandfather hiked the Appalachian Trail in his 70s. Hope that is a clear enough picture.

PHILOSOPHY

Radical inclusion, self expression, and adventure.

Music, Movies, and Books

This is my favorite part. And I like to change it. This is what's on my mind now.

Favorite books (short list), One Hundred Years of Solitude; The Glass Bead Game and Damian, and well, all Hesse; Lord of the Rings; all Haruki Murakami, especially the Wind Up Bird Chronicles and IQ84--that one needs a pulitzer; Rebecca; Sometimes a Great Notion; Electric Kool Aid Acid Test; everything by Vonnegut, Tom Robbins, and Christopher Moore; Brave New World; Gravity's Rainbow; Maus (have read this one so many times it is falling apart. BEST graphic novel--ie comic--ever, hands down); everything by Ken Kesey--mentioned him already. I have one book left by Kesey I haven't read, and am saving it for a very special moment, because after that, there is no more. And it's autographed. "Ken Kesey" in gold bubble paint. One of best presents I was ever given. I've been tempted to read it a few times, but am still saving.

And many, many others.

Right now I'm reading Nine Kinds of Naked by Tony Vigorito. I think he's brilliant. His first novel, Just a couple of Days, I will recommend to any Vonnegut fans, and there are a lot of you here. You will also like it if you're a Robbins or Moore fan.

Next up, I think some Jules Verne.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This is tough. I've got a lot of good stories about places I've been. New Zealand might have been the greatest. I've got a really good story about the last day there, but would rather tell it in person!

Teach, Learn, Share

I could probably school you in a thing or two about music. Listening and depth, not making it myself (although I do have a couple songs I wrote!) I'm also an ex-art history teacher, so have tons to offer on that front.
