Overview
About Me
My passion is to travel and learn about many cultures & the history. I've done an extensive bit of landside travels in Europe and I'm ready to explore more continents, but I keep getting drawn back to Iceland. I absolutely love ICELAND! I can talk your ear off about Iceland, the Northern Lights, Solar Eclipses and Volcanos.
I grew up spending weekends on the lake, so I'm new to the sailing world but have loads of experience on ski boats. I'd like to get more open sea sailing under my belt (as a rider) during my travels.
Other passions include concerts, camping, astronomy, chasing the northern lights & kayaking. Lastly, I'm a fanatical Eclipse Chaser, diagnosed after the Aug 2017 eclipse over the US. My prescription is to plot out my travels for the rest of my life based on solar eclipses. Next up is Southern Spain Med. Aug 12, 2026.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm looking to make new friends while seeins the world. Getting a local feel for the culture.
Plus I'd love to have a beer mate at a pub.
Interests
international traveling, concerts, water sports, camping. My new fascination since Sept 2018 is Camper-vans. My 1st camper-van experience was in Iceland and I want to continue traveling this way anytime it's available.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My 2 month solo backpack trip to Greece, Egypt, Morocco, Spain & Malta. I cherish that summer and all the great friends I made.
Another was seeing the interesting hexagonal basalt rocks at Giant's Causeway in Ireland. When I heard that the same rocks were also in Scotland, I was determined to see them too. So a few years later I made an entire day trip from Glasgow to Fingal's Cave to see those same rock formations. It was a great adventure getting there via 1 train, 1 bus and 3 ferrys lasting from 4am til midnight. Long journey just to have an hour in the cave. And recently I learned of a couple of places in Iceland where I can see more of these hexagonal basalt rocks, so I foresee another adventure in my future. (update, hiked to Svartifoss to see more basalt in Iceland Sept).
