Travel like a peasant, Live like a king. --to be a lively member of my wild strawberry family as i explore my curiosity in persons, travel, art (photography) and nature.

ABOUT ME

i grew up in a restaurant literally and learned family is anyone you treat like family -- i am retired from bartending, teaching high school, marriage & family therapist, commuity projects with adolescent's in trouble with the law in appalachia and inner city projects, community college prof and pretend photographer.

PHILOSOPHY

what's it all about alfie? -- pusuing my passions & curiosities alone & with family & old & new friends --which forms my wild strawberry family which is the center of my life -- i outgrew my tree family years ago as my wild strawberry family grew in meaning & importance --keeping myself somehow involved in making this world a better place

i love to travel in a way that allows me to see the places i visit thru the eyes, ears, noses, hands and taste buds of persons who live there -- i am truely curious about persons and how they engage life from the food they eat to the music they listen to as well as how they get their kids to mind and what they do when their mom or dad gets seriously ill and of course, their sense of humor --

--going to canada fishing from my native wisconsin fed my curiosity for travel -- i've been to mexico 3 times, cozumel, russia/siberia, toured europe for 6 weeks, barbados and the entire U.S. often times backpacking
--love to cook, laugh, bike, kayak, hike, walk, listen to live music, photograph, pretend to write, make presents for others, see the world through the eyes of a child (particularly my 9 grandchildren), hang out with old friends & make new friends, be involved with projects that make this a better world for all of us--
at 66 i am currently learning about digital photography & new ways to convert old photos to digital format & uniting them with sound to create dvd's

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

spent 1 month as kitchen volunteer at Dzogchen Beara - Tibetan Buddhist retreat in County Cork, Ireland, went to Tomsk, Siberia in Feb. one year for my neice's wedding, volunteered as a WWOOFer for 2 months on an organic farm with an Irish family of 5,
