About Me

I was born in Sonoma, California but have lived in Arcata, CA for six years . I love the town , wonderful people, good local food, and tremendous natural beauty; it has changed my life. I will be bike touring in Peru this winter! I consider myself a simple man in a fascinatingly complex world; I enjoy nature, a good meal, art, dancing, and engaging social interactions.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I will be traveling in Peru and Chile winter 2017-2018 so I want to build up the grateful traveler karma, and get a chance to meet locals down there

My first experience was in 2015 I got a job for the Natural Resource Conservation Service in Alamosa, Colorado. I wanted to camp so as to avoid rent costs I couldn't afford but circumstances in my destination made it very hard to camp because the area is in a high desert with raging duststorms, very little shelter or water availability. Through couchsurfing I was able to find a cheap housing situation ($150/month) so I could have a place to rest up after a week working in the forest. So when I got back to my home in Arcata I wanted to pay it forward best I could. Every experience I have had through this connection has been very positive. I get to meet conscious people from all over the world, people that live and love the simple life, and want to experience the wonder and beauty of our planet. I have the opportunity to receive vegetables through volunteer farmwork, cooking nutritious food for hungry travelers makes me feel warm and happy inside. This idea of sharing what you have and connecting young people from all over is truly beautiful.
