About Me

CURRENT MISSION

On the trip of a lifetime - travelling round Australia

ABOUT ME

I'm about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime. I'm travelling solo to the other side of the world and am so excited yet very nervous. The world beyond my family home has been fairly small to date - I've travelled with my family on organised holidays this time neither apply - no family and not a great deal of organisation.

I'm a chilled guy, laid back, apparently I'm quite funny (although that depends on your sense of humour - I've quite a dry, typical Brit take on most things).

I feel like i'm at a crossroads in my life, my friends are moving on to university and seem to know what their future holds. I have no idea - but I hope to use the experiences of the next 12months or so to give me at least an idea. I see myself doing something outdoors - I always joked I'd be a lumberjack - maybe that dream will come true?

I've quite a close extended family that I'll be leaving behind in UK Christmas might not be quite the same without 17 other family members round the table! Oh and the 4 dogs!

PHILOSOPHY

If you're going to do it do it to the best of your ability and immerse yourself in the experience.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've never couchsurfed before - but my eldest step brother hosts and surfs and highly recommends it. I'd love to experience half the things he's done with the couchsurfing community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None personally but did share last Christmas with a lovely Brazilian student staying with my step brother who we had over for the big family do.

Interests

Surfing (done 2 weeks in Canaries - loved it but have so much more to learn - where better than Australia?)
Skateboarding
Computer gaming
Basketball
Travel (!!)
Watersports - can't wait to give diving a try not really found the murky depths of UK waters too appealing but blue seas off Australia definitely do

  • dogs
  • traveling
  • outdoor activities
  • surfing
  • scuba diving
  • skateboarding
  • basketball

Music, Movies, and Books

Game of Thrones (books & TV)
Will Smith films

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jumped out of a plane (with a parachute) for my 18th birthday. the prospect terrified me but it was amazing - I've learned that just because something scares you its not a reason not to give it a go. So I am - on my own I'm taking on AUstralia - although a little help along the way would be much appreciated.

Teach, Learn, Share

This is tough as I feel at this stage I have so much to learn but other than helping out around the place find it hard to put my finger on what I can share - maybe 6 months down the line i'll have much to share.
