About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Remember all the facts I forgot about dinosaurs.
ABOUT ME
I have a cat and a PhD. Both are from Indiana and both qualify me to speak on the evolution of social norms. I like a lively debate but am prone to get a bit worked up. I should really watch less TV.
PHILOSOPHY
Don't assume that people care about your personal philosophy.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'll be traveling frequently for research and work but will be able to fit in some exploring. And while I aspire to one day have a spare room, my couch can support travelers from time to time.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've traveled a fair amount but rarely go out of my way to make friends. This is a mistake, as a few couchsurfers I've encountered made clear. Places are neat, but people make the trip.
Interests
When home in Indiana, I enjoy caving, cycling, and beer. While in New England, I've taken to hiking, snow-shoeing, bouldering, and less-tasty beer. While in Massachusetts in particular, I am (i) taking advantage of sketch night at the MFA and (ii) learning how surly, insane people operate automobiles.
Also, pie. Mostly pie.

Music, Movies, and Books
Any movie (or book) in which Gene Hackman portrays a Polish Major General. As for music, west coast and hard bop jazz, especially bands featuring Gene Hackman on drums as a Polish Major General.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
This 'n that. I saw a large-scale prison break once. That was kind of nuts.
Teach, Learn, Share
Lately I've been interested in concrete (reinforced, mostly) and Gnosticism.
